December 17, 201510 yr That's too bad. Just one more reason why UK will never be good in football. Agreed. I honestly don't think UK will have a year in, year out respected program in my lifetime and I'm fine with that. Plenty of blame to go around and some of it falls on us as fans. Many want a quick turn around for this program and it just can't happen. They wanted 7 or 8 wins this season and it was never going to happen. You can't build a decent program in the SEC with this type of turnover. It never seemed like Stoops wanted to run an air raid but seemed like he was forced to. Then tried to micromanage it and it caused a disaster. Bad for for everyone involved. Hopefully he finds a guy who wants to to run an offense he wants to run. It's his team. He should have hired the guy he wanted from the start or called them plays himself. UK will be in the same position next year as they were this year. If not worse. Agreed. And I lean towards worse.

December 17, 201510 yr Author I'm like @MBWC41 I think there will be isolated incidents where the team is good for a year or two but I no longer expect a year in and year out respectable program.

He better win 7-8 next year or he will be looking for a job as well. To be fair, outside of Towles the other players seem to be happy that Dawson is gone. To be honest, I believe there is a lot more to Dawson's firing than just the play calling. Prior to the season it was said by Stoops that both QB's would get an opportunity to prove themselves early in the season. After a couple of games and still no Barker, fans and the media started questioning where Barker is. Dawson fired back and essentially said that Towles is his starter and that there would not be split duty. I think in all honesty this caused dissention in the locker room and a lot of players lost respect for Dawson. Stoops finally had enough of it and told Dawson to give Barker a shot. Fast forward to today and Towles and Dawson both are gone and while Towles is praising Dawson, the other players seem to be glad that Dawson is gone. Disclaimer, that's just my theory hah. Take it however you want.

Again, I'm somewhat numb to UK being a below average program so my expectations are low but I hope Stoops is given 5 to 6 seasons to prove something. His recruiting has been decent. 5 to 6 seasons gives him more than enough time to get his guys in and on the field and adjust for his misses in recruiting. Also, who else could we get ? Coaches aren't exactly beating down the doors to coach at a school where football is a means of entertainment until basketball rolls back around.

If Pelini is on campus that would essentially mean Elliot is gone to. I seriously doubt Pelini would be interested in the job if he was offered it.
