Side note...

Was watching the Reds game with my 8 year old daughter. Adam Dunn came up to bat. She says, "Daddy, that guy looks like the guy that played "Elf"." "Elf?" "You know the Christmas movie with that oversized elf."

I started rolling.

Adam Dunn does look like Will Farrell.

:thumb:  I think that we may have a new nickname for him "Elf" Dunn. :thumb:

9-7 Phils in the 8th.

13-7 Phils now, I at least feel better about that. Man, we could had picked up 2 games in as many nights on them. Arrrrrrrrgh.

Maybe the Reds could get Tom Cruise to use some of his witchcraft to get rid of their offensive curse.

The Reds need to win 6 of their next 8 to make this homestand (against contenders) a winning one. Not likely.

As was aptly said above, this certainly smells like the "beginning of the end." Let's hope they snap out of this (although, with Milton going tonight, not likely) and string some W's together quickly. The Cards are really struggling right now and the Reds are blowing a great chance to be closing ground.

So FRUSTRATING.

Dunn has been great lately, but like Freel and Clayton the night before (their lack of D cost them the game), Dunn's feeble AB's last night were the difference. If he goes back into a funk, it could be a large female crooning that we hear next.

It's early in the trade, give these guys 2-3 games to adjust and than we can start to get an idea, which were good moves and which were not....(yes, from the same guy who was critical of "some" trades being done)

I've said before the season started and all throughout, the Reds woes are directly related to the lack of starting pitching....hopefully something can be done, prior to the August 31st deadline for Playoff rosters, perhaps a waiver claim or another move.

When Dunn rolled over to turn off his alarm this morning he realized it said ..................0-2 :madman:

Rickie Bobby Dunn

This team is exasperating at times. They have had chance after chance after chance(I'm sounding like Marty) to makeup ground on the struggling Cards. Lack of consistent starting pitching is beginning to rear its ugly head. It seems to ALWAYS comes down to starting pitching in the end.

Come on Reds...suck it up!!! Badly need to get at least 3 of these next 4.

Lineup tonight...

Freel RF

Hatteberg 1B

Griffey CF

Dunn LF

Aurilia 2B

Encarnacion 3B

Valentin C

Clayton SS

Milton P

Dunn back in the four hole, with the two hitters that give you the best AB's, Hatte and Rich, two and five, respectively. Interesting.... hope it works. We need some early runs 2nite with Uncle Milty on the hill.

I was hoping after I saw Aurilia then Edwin to see Phillips playing short...too bad. Here's my question for Reds fans... I understand that Phillips could be the best defensive 2B in the NL right now, but if they move him to short and he can't handle it would that mean he couldn't regain his form at 2B? I mean they are struggling right now at scoring runs. The people who said Clayton was an upgrade defensively at SS were wrong. If you make up a lineup to play the best defense Castro would play somewhere every day. How hard would it be to try Aurilia at 2B Edwin at 3B and Phillips at SS? Let Castro play once every 10 days. If it doesn't work just go back to what they're doing now.

When's the last time BP's had a day off? Been a while …

...moving the fences back and higher, would be another good option....:sssh:
