Dixie stadium progress, will they play Highlands at Highlands?

They're completely renovating and rebuilding nearly the entire school. It's a six-phase project I believe and will take several years. It will be a whole new school more or less when the project is completed. It's a long-overdue improvement and should make for an environment much more conducive to learning.

Does this mean you plan on challenging for Manual's top spot in National Merit Semi- Finalists? :D

How are they going to chip golf balls on that turf? Please tell me that time-honored tradition isn't going the way of the hula hoop?

We always place a mat down. Just think and you'll remember them hitting off them. Where else would we have gotten all that grass?:D

I thought it was a bunker-hitting contest?

I think I'll hold our current record of scholastic merit up against any other. But yes, it should make things even better! :thumb:
And how do sports complex renovations and parking lots contribute to the learning process? At a rate of $5 per ticket, 3000 tickets per game, 6 games a year, this renovation will pay for itself in just over 100 years.

Or it could have funded teacher salaries for 20 teachers for 10 years.

My rant isn't against Dixie, but wasteful spending in general when school systems are already financially strapped.

Ah you're just dealin small potato's my friend what about the increased sales taxes by stores and restrants in the area. More sales, by more viewers = more tax money. Also lets not forget that all of these renovations plus Kawoods new school only increases the property value to homes in the area. Which means increased tax revenue for property taxes as well. It all helps out in the end.

What? This is not a pro sports team moving in. These new facilities were not built to increase revenue for the school or community. How many more people do you think will come to a high school football game because of the stadium is new than wouldnot have attended otherwise. Dixie will make more money on leasing their field to area teams. I am sure Thomas More would rather make the short drive to Dixie than Ft Thomas.

I'm going to agree with Malachi. Your argument IMO does not hold water. Living near Dixie and Caywood, I can tell you that neither project has had any impact on property values. I also do not expect Dixie to get many more fans attending games and I can 100% tell you that they're not coming from out of town, staying at hotels, dining at restaurants, and shopping while in the big city.

Something tells me the original post that sparked these replies was not entirely without a wink and smile when posted.

Personally I think it will help attendance for those marquee matchups, at least you will have a shot at actually being able to sit during the game.

I agree, especially in the playoffs, plus a few more people than normal will come the first year or two just to see the new stadium.

Went by tonight, the field is turfed, looks like the track and parking lots are next. The visiting locker room and concession stands are nearly built. Their is a new road off Kenton Lands Road as well, with parking on both side which will undoubtedly be right next to the baseball field. The front of the schools looks like they are going to tier some levels too and add more parking there.

I remember the CovCath/Dixie matchup a few seasons ago. Saturday afternoon and the place was packed to the gills. Luckily many HS like to walk around and fratenize giving guys like me a nice spot on the fenceline in the EZ. Do any of the DH posters know if the new place will be "streaker proof"???

They have a contingency plan in place to deal with any such event. I know a few of the local police officers and they said that they wouldn't get caught with there pants down so to speak again. They're prepared for him when he returns.:D

SM - I stopped by yesterday and that vivid green is shocking when you're used to bare patches of dirt. It will be a very nice complex.

However, I have no clue as to how the parking lot is going to be ready for school in a month.

It doesn't matter if they were built to bring in more revnue or not,... THEY WILL. Also if you don't think this adds to property value, you're a fool. And as for the new stadium bringing in more people, I'd say as many as a couple hundred a game. I know we avoided games in the past due to their poor set up...
