December 7, 201510 yr I'm just having a really tough time this year. We have our tree up and a few other decorations but I just can't find that Christmas spirit. I have no motivation to go out and buy presents. Haven't been able to throw in a Christmas movie yet. Haven't had any Christmas beer/goodies. Christmas music just isn't working. Is it that weather? It's going to be 60 for the Bengals game on Sunday haha!
December 7, 201510 yr A little more than normal. Work is completely insane and there's no real end in sight. That's usually not the case. Normally things are winding down for the year but with a lot of things coming up early in the new year, I'm loaded up. Putting a damper on things to an extent.
December 7, 201510 yr I've had trouble too. Too busy with work and been dealing with an IRS audit. Hoping to get back in the spirit this week.
December 7, 201510 yr Yes. I usually really like decorating the house and make it blink and flash and dance. This year, I went with a very basic static display. My surrounding neighbors are probably split on they feel about that. Poor people across the street are probably loving it this year. The ones with kids, probably wondering what happened. We tried to have a pool installed this year and ran in to roadblock after roadblock. I spent a lot of energy and time dealing with the city, the installers, including new deck and landscape plans. Our hopes were crushed when we finally determined we wouldn't be able to get the pool, ground wouldn't support it(long, long story). After that, I just didn't feel like spending more time and energy on the decorations. But I've vowed to go bigger and better than ever next year.
December 7, 201510 yr Sometimes listening to holiday music helps. However, that doggone song that plays at JC Penney's and some other department stores like a 1,000 times a day is getting really, really old!!! One more time and my head will explode... December 8, 201510 yr Yes. Now don't laugh, but this year will be the first Christmas in my life without a pet, I really enjoyed seeing them lay and sleep under the tree, as well as chase my train around the tree. Then with my surgery coming up I'm running around trying to get things done, as well as arranging for help to take the tree and all of the other decorations down. Also the weather is playing a part, not cool/cold enough to think of Christmas and no snow yet.
December 8, 201510 yr I was thinking about it this weekend. It's almost impossible to think about Christmas and not conjure images of snow. From the songs to the decorations to the movies, everything about Christmas is tied to snow in some way or another. But it's warm outside. It's hard to get my brain to make the connection.
December 8, 201510 yr I've not been a big fan of the holidays since I worked retail. Nothing worse than the guy who comes into a store on Christmas Eve expecting to have the size shirt for little Johnny. Umm buddy, we sold out of that 2 weeks ago. If you really gave a crap about him you would have bought it for him a long time ago? Now the wife overdoes it and ends up getting worn down by doing too much causing undo stress. Dare I mention what I sell for a living? Or the fact that our year end is the last day of December. All of marketing/office help get off around the 20th or so. Sales is still pushing that final number with no help to get it processed and out the door.
December 8, 201510 yr Bad to say, but I'll be glad when this year is over. Don't normally wish my life away, but it's been rough.
December 8, 201510 yr Never been a huge fan of Christmas, but this year it seems worse than ever. Ready for it to come and go. Not a scrooge or anything, I just sit back and watch others.
December 8, 201510 yr Some day when all the kids are grown, Mr. Cat and I will be escaping to a beach at Christmas and forgetting all the chaos and anxiety that comes with the season!
