If you read through the threads you'll see there are people who don't seem to acknowledge that Christianity has extremist. Their response is that those people aren't Christians.

 

To the first point, I said ISIS is a bigger threat than any radical Christian group...

 

Again we aren't just talking ISIS although they are the biggest example.

 

If a Christian kills in the name of Christianity go ahead and call them radical Christians. Doesn't bug like I said no one defines me but me.

 

Westboro Baptists are extreme Christians they are called so all the time and no one on either side of aisle has a problem with it. Why is that? Because they are.

 

So why the hesitation by some on the left to call radical Muslims what they are but I don't see the same hesitation when crazy Christians act out.

 

But to build further on my original point there is no comparison between radical Christians and radical Muslims in the modern world.

 

There aren't dozens of organized groups killing in the name God who are Christians.

 

Are there crazy Christians , obviously. But we can say that and also under stand when we compare them on scale there is a reason Muslim extremist are a much bigger threat.

Probably the reason we don't have Christian radicals committing acts in the modern world is the strongest nations (US and Europe) in the world identify with Christanity. Really no reason to resort to these actions when you are in control.

read Sam Harris' article posted in the other thread. There are Christians/Hindus/Buddhists who are from the same places as the radical Muslims but the Christians, who have experienced the same injustices as the Muslims, don't resort to terror to make right the wrongs. Harris argues that the reason has to do with the nature of the religion of the terrorists. Harris is an atheist, BTW.

It's been reported the name of the magazine is Inspire.

I admit, I haven't read the Quaran. But in your post, you've taken passages, and removed them from context. People bring up similar passages in the Bible, and when these same types of passages are brought up, the argument people use to defend them, is that you can't take individual passages on their own. They must be presented in context in order to fully understand the meaning. Or that these passages weren't meant to be interpreted literally. There are many passages in the Old Testament that call for violence, genocide and other similar things. The Bible isn't all peace and love. Remember, the Christian extremists, like the KKK, Aryan Brotherhood, etc, use the literal translations of the Bible to defend their actions.

 

I get your point. But if you're going to judge the Quaran so harshly based on literal translations presented out of context, it's not fair to ignore the same type of stuff that is present in the Bible.
