November 22, 201510 yr Michigan State beating Ohio State is so good for the climate of college football. The wealth needs to be spread out a little. The BCS and only two teams eligible for the title was the biggest fraud in major college athletics of my lifetime. 4 teams is much improved but it is still way too elitist. 8 teams, and ideally 16 teams is much better if we all really want it best for college football. And I don't want hear how they already play so many games blah blah blah, if that is the case the schedule needs to be cut down by a game or two. Additionally, if you are not for an expansion of the college football playoffs you need to be calling for all other levels of college football to reduce the teams that get in the postseason and March Madness needs to be cut down to just a handful of teams too. College Football has been so corrupt for so long and hopefully the Big 10 gets shut out of the playoff so we can all focus on what is best for everyone, not just what is best for a handful of elite programs each year.
November 22, 201510 yr I could agree to going to six but to me that would be it. Any more and imo a regular season game (maybe 2 games if extended much more) imo would have to be dropped. These guys are "students" after all and jmo a 16 game / NFL like season would be too long. I personally wouldn't mind it staying at just 4. As for how long until a change ..... how long does the contract with the different bowl games / playoff bowl games last ? I don't think any change will be made until then.

Why is it okay for every other level of college football and not the only one that matters to most of us?
November 22, 201510 yr Eight, not sixteen is the right number. All five major conference winners should get in and then the top three at large. Nobody can complain then. If you don't win your conference and don't get in...shut up...you had your chance. People will argue about 8 and 9 but if you are on that bubble, too bad. I would also add a couple of other wrinkles. The top 4 should host the bottom 4 in the first game. That would reward the top 4 teams and have all teams fighting all the way to try to host that first game. Every regular season game would still matter. They should play the first games in mid December and then do the final four like they do now IMO. The season would not be lengthened at all. Teams have a month of no games in December anyway.
November 22, 201510 yr There are 128 Division I schools playing football in the FBS. This is what should happen.... Create four divisions/classes All 128 teams get in the playoffs, regardless of record There will be 32 teams in each division/class Name four national champions To prevent an infringement violation, call it the KHSAA National Championship.
November 22, 201510 yr Eight is the right number, but I think they way it is set up currently it has to stay at 4 for a few more seasons contractually. Going from 4 to 8 adds one round of games and is ideal IMO. I don't like the idea of a bye in any playoffs and I really don't like it here where part of the decision is as scientific as a beauty contest. -I don't want to have any guaranteed positions based on winning a conference title (you are either top 8 or you are not) -No conference opponents matched in the first round if two teams from same conference make the playoffs
November 22, 201510 yr Soon as Notre Dame gets in this year and half of college football fans have a melt down.
November 22, 201510 yr Author Soon as Notre Dame gets in this year and half of college football fans have a melt down. If we have 8 or 16 each year then ND can get in and we will see how they do trying to play 3 or 4 top ten/five teams in a row.

I kind of like this idea, make being a part of a major conference a perk and then you have three wildcards that could be a second (or third) team from a given conference. Whatever they do, it needs to be well thought out or it will slowly morph to more and more entitlements and that is the last thing we need. We need an open/fair system.

November 22, 201510 yr It should have been 8 to begin with, but that would make to much sense with the NCAA being involved. I get the idea of going to 6 teams with getting a bye. But I think it would be better to just let 8 in and have them play it out. No one ever agrees on who is number one a d number two, so why should they get the benefit of the doubt and a free advancement? Let 8 teams in and let them fight it out, ala college basketball when it was a 16 or 32 team field.
