Is it Friday yet?

Pardon the interruption for this public service announcement, but I wanted to remind our guests coming in from Owensboro that Mayfield plays their home games in War Memorial Stadium located at 950 West Lockridge Street. If you chart your course to the high school, you will be in the wrong place. I look forward to seeing you there.

It is not as if we played a schedule full of 1A teams. The only 1A teams we played were in the district and playoffs. I would wager money that in most of our 1A years, the schedule we played was more difficult than the schedule played by 90% of 2A teams.

Calm down...I never said you didn't. But when you reached the end of the season and the playoffs you rarely if ever saw teams with all players going just one way in 1A. That is something that you may face a little more in 2A. Mayfield is the cream of what ever crop they are in, but teams with players going just one way will have an advantage against players playing the entire game. Whether it is enough of an advantage to beat Mayfield in the playoffs is an entirely different question.

We are not going to win the title every year, we might not win it this year. We will be in the hunt every year though. If a team is better than us, they can beat us. I don't think the one way/two way/tiredness thing is a factor at all. Hasn't been a factor in the last 40 years or so, not likely to start now.

A lot of folks are looking at that close loss to Owensboro as a game that proved just how good they are.. While, imo, thats a good loss if their ever was one, let's also not forget that O'Boro had to hang on for dear life 20-19 against a Graves Co team that Mayfield beat by 32 points and held to under 100 yards on the night.. So, while the Murray game may look to favor the Aces, the schedules can be looked at a number of ways to spin it however you want them to be spinned.. The bottom-line is these 2 teams both propose challenges for the other and the one that executes the best will likely win, barring something strange happening..

Majestic - good thin crust pizza, salad bar, other

Carr's - Steak (nice atmosphere)

Chow 45 - down home cooking!! (limited seating)

That's a good way to look at it. You can also look at it this way as well. OHS didn't play or bring 2 key starters and Graves came out and had a good game plan. Look at what OHS did to Greenwood who throttled Graves. OHS had 5 turnovers against BG and lost 17-14 at BG. And we all saw what BG did to McCracken.... so that theory can go in both ways. Not saying Owensboro Catholic is good enough to play or beat the BG or McCracken's of the world. Just playing Devil's advocate on that. Thanks @GloryDays for the suggestions!

We underestimate nobody... We know only good teams are left. Plus it doesn't matter what us fans think, Mayfields coaches know how to focus the team.

Good luck to y'all as well. I really want it to be Mayfield and Desales in the semis. I really want to play y'all that way we have a shot to knock off the 2 time defending Class 2A State Champs!
