Clyde
I also read this as you are not in favor of junior high kids playing up. Not true.
Jim Schue
Sidenote: If you read the title thread and immediately thought of Junior Sample...I did , too. You should check out the '90s band BR5-49. Specifically the song "Me and Opie."
Johnny_Utah
Join a club team if you are homeschooled. This best of both worlds stuff kills me. The majority of the people that I have talked to who home schooled their kids gave the reason of "not wanting to subject my kid(s) to having to attend a school that doesn't meet the needs I want them to receive" SO why would you want them to play sports with the same kids that you don't want them to sit side by side in a classroom with? Well...... apparently they didn't need to play sports either. The YMCA is right down the road probably, sign them up for a team there they give trophies away @ the end of the season too. the game guy
Just how many kids are we talking abut in a school year? I think it would only be a few?
Clyde
Just how many kids are we talking abut in a school year? I think it would only be a few? Does the number impact your belief on what the KHSAA should do?
the game guy
No just wonder how many students this would include to see if they are getting in a wad over a few or a lot.
Johnny_Utah
Just how many kids are we talking abut in a school year? I think it would only be a few? when I was AD, I would receive almost weekly calls from either home schooled kids parents or on a lesser note, someone who wanted to play a sport that their school didn't offer, but they lived in our attendance area & chose to attend elsewhere. Wireman
Would allow home schooled students to play for high school teams. I think there's no way it could work. Thoughts? ?Tim Tebow? bill proposed in Kentucky
Watusi
We talked about this from the KHSAA perspective earlier. Here is what Julian Tackett had to say... http://bluegrasspreps.com/ky-football-high/commissioner%92s-response-home-315642.html?highlight=commissioner
TheDeuce
I'm not a fan. There are perks to going to public or private school. Playing sports is one of them.
Wireman
This would seem to open a lot of gray areas for recruiting violations too.
TheDeuce
This would seem to open a lot of gray areas for recruiting violations too. The only way it could be fair, IMO, is if the home schooled kids had to attend the school whose district they lived in.
kyyank
Why not? They already allow kids to play up, from junior high, at the local public and Catholic schools. What's the difference?
jessepinkman
Go home, home schoolers. If you want to play ball then come to our school. And don't give me the I pay taxes crap, so do people who don't even have kids. I pay taxes for welfare and I don't use it.
MSU-70
Who cares if someone wanted to home-school their child but wanted them to play sports at their local school? Does it make that much of a difference...they do pay taxes so let them play. It's not that serious of an issue unless you have a greater argument than "don't give me the I pay taxes crap, so do people who don't even have kids."
