Had a couple interviews yesterday. I guess they went ok. One was probably better than the other but ok. I'm just hoping that the new coach puts an emphasis on the jr pro program. I've spent several hours with it over the last few years. Just like for the new coach make it a priority.

I hear/read about schools/communities wanting an emphasis with the junior football programs, but how is a HFC going to make a difference? He can show support by coming to some of the events but outside that what else do you want him to do? I'm curious.

I'm just speaking of overall support and guidance. I've put a lot of time in the jr pro program and would like to see it grow. I think the high school head coach could help this.

I've known programs where the high school and middle school are completely different philosophies and whatever similarities are taught are done completely differently.

 

At the end of the day, if a middle school program mirrors the high school program, I doubt that it really runs the risk of hurting anything.

Somewhat harder to do with city schools that have multiple middle schools feeding into them. Example: Bryan Station High has Bryan Station Middle, Crawford, LTMS, Leestown all feeding into it for high school. No way for all of them to run the same O/D in reality. some of these are split schools too, part of Leestown feeds into Dunbar, part of Crawford feeds into Henry Clay.

 

I'm sure Louisville is the same way.

Looks like the McPeek rumors must have some legs. Community leaders are pushing for him. May be a second round of interviews to get him one. This is getting interesting.

Head coach is there every week. Assistants rotate weeks.

I just cant get up with the idea of the head coach running these jr pro programs. He needs to be worried about winning varsity games. Anytime away from working on the varsity program during the season just doesn't make sense. imo

In our area, if the high school staff doesn't have at least some involvement in the little league it CAN get bad. Got to really have someone good running that level. Preferably someone else, but it is so important that if the need is there the high school may have to do it.

Having only coached at Powell County and Lewis County, I can't say that I've been part of teams that have played a vast majority of teams in the state...BUT, if you want to know what kind of impact a head coach overseeing a youth football program, all I have to say is Russell Red Devils. During the McGlone tenure, they ran the same 10-15 plays all the time. They learned the plays in the 3rd or 4th grade and ran them until they graduated. It wasn't just the athletes that won those games...it was athletes that had been part of the same system for almost 10 years.
