What MTGL is saying and what you missed is that those intangibles come into play with some/many voters. I happen to think you're right if your point is it's TOO EARLY. Elliott can make a huge push - he certainly has the talent. However if it's close then the growing tide of love for Fournette's STORY will CERTAINLY sway SOME voters.

I didn't watch the game last night but read he had 250 yards total offense in the first half.

McCaffrey is very impressive. He comes from a very athletic family. Right now it's a two horse race between Fournette and McCaffrey. I like McCaffrey because he is so dynamic, he averages 253 ypg compared to Fournette who averages 212 ypg. Fournette is the obvious front runner but I like McCaffrey as the underdog. He impacts the game ala Reggie Bush at USC.

I believe kick returns and punt returns are being used for all purpose yards per game. Before last night:

 

On the year, McCaffrey has racked up 601 rushing yards, 168 receiving yards, 358 kick return yards and 22 punt returns yards. To date, he leads San Jose State's Tyler Ervin by 11 total yards and LSU's Leonard Fournette by 269 yards.

McCaffrey is averaging 8.1 yards per play and is gaining 229.8 yards per game. McCaffrey has also gained at least 245 all-purpose yards in three straight games.

These numbers according to the Stanford Athletics page. Looks like I actually shorted him before as those numbers come out to 256 ypg.

I think they just said that Dalvin Cook is averaging over 40 yards per touchdown run. He definitely deserves some Heisman mentions. He's dirty.
