The thing that gets me is Fournette has to run the ball. They don't throw it. EVER. They either go 3 and out or he breaks off a big run. The reason I think Elliott is more impressive is Ohio State actually has a passing game too. He doesn't have to do it all by himself, even though I think he should most of the time. I know Fournette is a great back now and will likely shine in the NFL too, but let's hold back on saying he transcends college football. He's not one of the greats yet until he beats one of the greats. You know who else had similar characteristics as Fournette in college? Trent Richardson. How did that work out for him in the NFL? See how he plays when he is up against players who are just as athletic as he is and if he beats them, then I'll be impressed.

I think most would argue it is more challenging to run the ball if you are of no threat to throw it.

History shows us this is a QB award. 13 of the past 15 years have been a QB. Boykin is the highest rated Heisman hopeful at this time and really no person to speak of on his heels. I could see Jared Goff making a push through the season.

He's not playing teams though. He's playing Syracuse and South Carolina. Teams where his NFL offensive line should absolutely dominate. I'm curious to watch him this weekend against Florida. But I'm not going to crown him the heisman until he does what he has been doing against Bama. Then I will be impressed.

I would have to disagree with you on that one. Trent put up amazing numbers with less of the load that Fournette gets. Trent is also every bit as physically imposing and Fournette is and probably in my opinion a better athlete. Trent was able to squat more than 3 times his weight and had close to the same speed as Fournette does. Is Fournette better than Trent I would say yeah, but I think physically they are very similar.

I didn't say Elliott was. But the only time we have seen either of these guys play big time teams, Elliott performed. I'm curious to see how Fournette does.

Fournette has about 10 lbs and 4 inches on him.

 

Fournette runs a 40 in 4.35 whereas Richardson ran it in 4.45.

 

He's better and more imposing in every aspect.

 

The Todd Gurley comparison is much more accurate.

Except LSU and Fournette have only played 5 games....:idunno:

 

Gurley also had 123 carries for 911 yards in 6 games last season.

I was showing the comparison between the "freak" that was Todd Gurley last season and the "FREAK" that Leonard Fournette has been this season.

^To be fair, they should have played 6, but the week 1 game against McNeese State was cancelled due to weather of some sort I believe.
