Transcends college football?

If my wife and / or mom knows who a guy is, he transcends being a football player. Has ZERO to do with his stats, in most cases. In this case, he has both, the off-the-field public love affair, and a BEAST between the lines.

All that means is your wife or mom happens to be in the room when you're watching ESPN. That doesn't equal transcendent. Transcendent is someone like Tim Tebow. Leonard Fournette is not Tim Tebow.
The thing that gets me is Fournette has to run the ball. They don't throw it. EVER. They either go 3 and out or he breaks off a big run. The reason I think Elliott is more impressive is Ohio State actually has a passing game too. He doesn't have to do it all by himself, even though I think he should most of the time. I know Fournette is a great back now and will likely shine in the NFL too, but let's hold back on saying he transcends college football. He's not one of the greats yet until he beats one of the greats. You know who else had similar characteristics as Fournette in college? Trent Richardson. How did that work out for him in the NFL? See how he plays when he is up against players who are just as athletic as he is and if he beats them, then I'll be impressed.

What you just said makes Fournette even more impressive. Everyone knows he is getting the ball yet still can't stop him. Zeke with OSU has the passing game to keep safeties back etc. easier to run when you have to defend the pass at the same time.

And Elliot is? Come on man.

Only college back to ever run for 200 yards against Nick Saban. He stinks.

I didn't say Elliott was. But the only time we have seen either of these guys play big time teams, Elliott performed. I'm curious to see how Fournette does.

Grant, I'm going to go with Elliott being the Running Back with more upside. Elliott has already proven he can carry teams. Fournette is not and never will be a Heisman winner, he hasn't played any teams that are in the top 25. I think Florida should stop Fournette and the talk of him will probably stop.

That is exactly what @UKMustangFan said :thumb:

Can't resist the urge to poke at his SEC fanboy-ism. Well his and everyone else's on here.

It was on the "Today" show, but please, keep correcting me.

I don't care enough to debate this, I don't have a Heisman vote.

It was on the Today show because of the flooding in South Carolina. So Fournette transcends college football because his team happened to be playing South Carolina that week. According to you, because of the flooding in Carolina, Fournette is the greatest running back in the history of college football and on top of winning the heisman, he should also win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Perfect summary of my posts on the topic, thanks. Have a great evening.

These types of responses always mean one thing: I can't hang in this debate.

Wrong assumption + called out = lame comeback

Come on ,man. Be better.

This was a debate about who should win Heisman and it became a debate about whether or not Fournette transcends college football because he is a good guy on top of being a heck of a football player. Excuse me for not being amused about this.

Still plenty of season left but it's Fournette's to lose, he is the entire offense.

Can't do nothing but laugh at this post. I'm amused. :lol2:

Depending on LSU's success (have to make the playoff) Fournette will play for this trophy on November 7th when he hopefully runs all over Alabama, and this is coming from an OSU fan.

Also the SEC championship game will matter, but if LSU is undefeated heading into the CFP playoff and Fournette keeps it up it is his award.

I want Ezekiel Elliott to win, he will have to lead them to wins against Michigan and Michigan State. But if Fournette's team is undefeated and his stats are better then it's his award.

EDIT: Leonard Fournette is a freak of nature and I thought he was AP when I saw his high school highlights. He could probably start for multiple pro teams.
