It would be nice if all schools had a reasonable amount of seating for the visitors. Some schools have seating for 2500 on the home side and 100 for the visitors.

Its already started for me.

As was mentioned, the announcer that does play by play, but in addition does the cliche when several guys from a team are involved in a tackle says "tackled by a whole flock of Eagles", or a "pride of lions", etc.

 

Parents that complain about play calling nonstop grinds my gears too.

 

These are on my list... The play-by-play thing is awful. The parents are worse. Of course, I hear the same crap at college/NFL games - as if the average fan has one iota of understanding about all the factors that go into calling a plays (score, time, field position, defensive scheme, injuries, etc.).

I would add that I love marching bands... Have no problem with them, at all. Cheerleaders, I don't really care one way or the other - but, I think it is important for the ladies who work so hard to have a crowd to perform in front of... They don't get that much at the cheer competitions - mostly just parents and stuff.

Lets see now .... don't like passionate fans, can yell but has to be at a certain volume level, the price of your freakin' hot dog, the band playing too much, too loud, etc., etc. . Might I suggest watching a golf tournament, chess tournament to some on here ? :lol2:

I can understand some of the things listed here, I really can but .... as espn commentator, ex OSU, Minn. Vikings HOF football player Chris Carter would say ..."C'mon Man". Yes, some of it gets to a person but try to remember that person paid to get in the same as you did. I personally don't really like to be sitting right next to the band and that's one reason why I never sit next to the band. Cheerleaders ? This is High School Football, they are kids and cheerleaders, players, the band and students cheering / cutting up and having fun is what i's about ... the kids. Try not to sit near the student section, band or cheerleders if you don't like it.

 

I fully admit that I am a passionate fan and yes I have been known to get too loud, too critical, etc. but one thing I did was to walk the sidelines / track-fence line during the game. Several of us probably would have been too "routy" for the bleachers 9and yes yelled "hit somebody" at times :stop: :idunno:. We knew that would be bothersome if sitting in the stands and that's one reason we never sat in the stands. Should the field / facilty didn't have the option of watching / walking and following the game then I got away from or tried to get away from anything that might bother me, sit in another location-section and we did not yell the same in the stands as we would on the sidelines out of respect for others sitting close. I will say that I have seen a very few facilities where a person couldn't stand, move up and down with the game. There is usually some way.

At any rate, I was just offering some suggestions, ideas on what we did. Ask our own BGP football administrator ... RAM, he will tell your that our "sideline crew / fence riders never got out of line or were critical. .....:sssh: , Tell em' Ram, we behaved (every once in a while) :lol2: :thumb:

Oh, the stories that could be told of oldrambler and his game buddies. And, I promise, most of the people complaining in this thread would have never been able to be around OR and his friends, hell we the players were glad we were on the field just to be away from them. Of course, we were never safe out there, they saw everything.

 

At least there wasn't a jail involved in their game attendance, well, not often, right oldrambler?

1-Smokers-Y'all stink up the entire place and are gross to have to set near.

 

2- Guy cheerleaders- Just looks weird to me

2B-Heavy set(Really Big cheer leaders)-Looks weird to see one huge person out there trying to do what the young ladies who are in shape are doing

 

3-Parents/Fans yelling and screaming curse words at the players

 

4-P.A. people who never call out the name or number of the players making the play.

 

5-Ref throwing their flag ten seconds or more after the first or 2nd guy did, especially when they are no where near the play.

Boyle County is guilty of this. Seats more than 100 but compared to the other side the visitors side is embarrassing. There is nothing quaint or old about Boyle's stadium and the field sits right in the middle of the buildings but it's a real nice stadium except for the visitor bleachers. Just my opinion of course.

That's exactly the stadium I was thinking of. I doubt if it seats many more than 100. LOL

 

The odd thing is, there is plenty of room to put more bleachers in.

I think without cheerleaders and bands the whole aura of Friday night lights would change.

Cheerleaders - every level of football has cheerleaders from Pee-Wee to NFL. Get over it.

 

Band - Most colleges have bands and even the Baltimore Ravens do. Many Historically Black colleges have bands that blast drum beats and rifts throughout the game. Just adds to the particular atmosphere. Let's face it, when the band is good it's ok, but when they're terrible, everybody feels it. Nothing like a horrible band struggling to finish The Star Spangled Banner.

 

Overzealous P.A. Guy needs to go lol. That I agree with. It feels like he's always a tongue slip from saying the wrong thing. Best to just keep it professional so the less-than-knowledgeable fan can keep up.

 

Visitor bleachers are the worst.

 

Chain Gangs that are last-minute dads too busy watching the game to adequately do their job.

 

Lastly, terrible football fields. C'mon Man.

Every year I end up at a game that is Homecoming. My first thought is always "geez - I hate sitting through these." I then hear the cheers that kids get when they are introduced and realize that sometimes I'm an old "get off my lawn" guy and mentally smack myself for my initial thought.

As the dad of a cheerleader I am biased and I have to chime in and say that Friday nights would not be the same without those ladies revving up the student sections. Same with the dance squad and the band when they play the fight song or other fan pumping music during the game.
