When a run play doesn't go 15 yards.

The running backs parents have to blame somebody.

The comments we hear from the press box from those either standing or sitting below us are comical.

And disgusting at times...

After reading these...it feels like some of you would be better off listening on the radio at home or just following on twitter! Wow! Take away the cheerleaders, the band needs to go, umbrellas are the devil, press box people talk too much, concessions should be free, fans should have a football resume to enter game or cheer....really?

You forgot to include where the one post said you should clap for the other team also.

I have issues with the Band.... I think its fine before the game and at halftime but not during the game. I have seen when the opposing team is on the field and trying to send in plays the band is playing. Sorry I cant stand the noise.

 

I love the parent that doesn't really know the game trying to give someone else who doesn't know the game a lesson on why their little Johnny should be on the field more. Its hilarious.

 

Its ok to be passionate as long as its not belittling of anyone. Cheer your team and its players as loud as you want but clap when the other team does well. Don't put them down, build them up.

I am not clapping for the other team when they do well. If you do that, you would have to be continuously clapping for almost the whole game.

Artificial noisemakers (ie cow bell/air horn) should be disallowed.

 

Umbrellas should also be disallowed.

 

Cheerleaders IMO do not add any value to the game or experience (even though I FULLY appreciate how much time and effort they put in).

 

As a rule I try to NEVER sit by parents of kids on either team.

 

1st bolded-----Nothing worse than the cow bell or half gallon milk jug filled with rocks or pennies....come on people.

 

2nd bolded----DLG was a cheerleader, while I supported her and her cheermates, you are SPOT ON with your assessment.

 

3rd bolded----THIS!!! Made the mistake at the Ryle/Highlands game to sit about 5 rows in front of a Ryle mom who had the LOUDEST mouth EVER, my ears were in dyer need of ear plugs I can assure you. Why do people yell at the top of their lungs, when in all honesty, the players on the field WILL NOT hear a damn word your screaming!!!! :facepalm: :isurrender: :no: (with the exception of the Ryle mom). :lol2:

Know-it-all fans (although some might consider me one :lol: )

My point exactly, why is this ok at the College and Pro level where the fans break noise records but at high school games it is taboo? Sorry, don't get it. Maybe you should take up watching tennis!!

Air horns are illegal, per KHSAA.

 

The vuvuzelas (usually in soccer, but have seen them at some football games) need to go, too.

 

And if you're going to bring an umbrella and use it, do NOT sit/stand in the last/top row of the stands. While I know it will absolutely kill you if even one precious raindrop falls on you, there's a pretty good chance you're blocking the view of several people (public address, spotter, stats, newspaper, radio, even coaches) in the press box.

 

That being said, I have a soft spot in my heart for (Louisville) Western's drum line. They're awesome. They can stay.

I hate this...we had a speaker right behind the visitors seating at one game several years ago. One of the dad's ended up cutting the cord to the speaker because it was so annoying.

 

So...you're a visiting team..., and one of the dads actually damaged very expensive private property rather than moving...? Or rather than leaving? Because he was annoyed, he has the right to damage someone else's PA equipment?

 

I doubt you're condoning such behavior, but at the same time, I expected some kind of comment about how ridiculous such behavior is.

I sat beside some insane mom last night. Screaming for her son to kill someone and to block, block, block! It went on the entire game!!!!!!!!

Hopefully the Ryle volleyball moms are nothing like the football and wrestling moms, I'll be there next Wednesday for the Ryle/NewCath match.......and it's Senior Night.

Moved to chain gang duty several years ago for some of these very reasons. Plus get to listen to how 5 or 6 different coaching staffs handle things. (Can be very interesting). I don't mind people yelling, I don't mind cheerleaders, and I don't mind the band. Just please know what you are talking about before you scream it across the stadium. A smart coach would make available the rule book for free download for any fan who wants to know how things really are. I have corrected about 50 fans and at least a dozen coaches (I kid you not) that there is no "uncatchable" rule in high school football. Just one example.

"Good" Cheerleaders (ones who know when to cheer D-Fense or know when to do a cheer during a nice drive) are fine and a value to the team and fans. "Clueless" Cheerleaders (ones who have no idea that it is 4th and 1 in a 7-7 game in the 4th quarter because they are talking to each other) need to go.

And I have seen Football Moms rightly yell at the cheerleaders to "Do something!!!"
