14 Year Old arrested for making a clock

And you know he was profiled how?

I have family who got a visit from social services and police after one of their young children said something in school about how their grandpa (who lived in a different state hundreds of miles away) likes to hunt and has a lot of guns...

Were they profiled?

Common sense. An Arab descent kid with a clock that looks likes a bomb? Come on now.

Yes. Of course your family was profiled. You think they weren't?

No, common sense would be waiting for the actual facts to be revealed before jumping to conclusions based on headlines, tweets and hashtags. It looked more like a bomb to me than a clock. He admitted it could look suspicious....

And no, I don't think my family was profiled.

The Soviets would have loved the folks that gobble up the hashtags, tweets, and headlines. Our population would be better served believing none of what they hear, and half of what they see.

Wating on "actual facts" changes very little. People are going to believe their own set of facts regardless of when it comes out. Even now it is up to each individual's opinion as to whether or not Pops used his 14 year old son to manipulate the public. We'll never know the atual facts on that unless he comes out and admits it. It's pure speculation now if he did that. In today's society nothing is ever taken at face value and everything is being done to discredit what was said or done. That's just the way it is.

The "bomb" was missing a very important part to it: the ordinance. Our educators could not see the device did not have any C4 or pipe bomb fixture attached to the thing? A time bomb needs an explosive substance to be an actual BOMB -- not just a timing device.

And why oh why would they take it to the principle's desk if they thought was a bomb??? Improper procedure.

Teachers get a failing grade for not knowing enough, improper procedure, and -- most importantly -- suspicion based on race/religion.

Teachers aren't necessarily bomb experts. If the daughter had already caused a problem in the past, the school officials were likely on high alert with this family. When the son rolled in with something that appeared to be a bomb, I'm sure they did what they felt they needed to do to prevent a disaster.

You just can't take chances in today's world. Every threat must be taken seriously.

Still no excuse for the President of our country.

I think they knew it wasn't a bomb at some point. The problem was, did he make it look like a bomb on purpose...which imo is still a no no.

Like someone else said though, teachers aren't bomb experts.

Kids get in terrible in schools for a lot less around this country.

I disagree. But I voted for him and I'm not critical of every move he makes or doesn't make. No surprise there though.

He did the right thing.

Now sweetheart I know you don't mean that

Hahaha

How is a teacher supposed to know what C4 looks like. Put blame on the poor teachers.

Poor little Muslim kid brings a thing that looks like a bomb to school when we have school violence at an all time high anyway and all people say is we profiled him. So what.

I get profiled since I'm white because Bo and Luke Duke are white and had confederate flag on car and everyone knows that makes you racist.

So you are honestly arguing that the President of the United States shouldn't wait until all the facts are available to make a statement on the subject? The leader of the free world should should make the same dumb mistakes that the average idiot on social media makes, and jump to conclusions?

You voted for him, that's fine, we all make mistakes. But I don't understand how you can't hold the president to a higher standard. You don't have to be critical of his every move, but you also cant be so willing to look the other way when he does make a mistake.

I know, I'm feeling sorry for you right now too. Hahahaha

I'm not arguing about when he should or shouldn't wait until all "facts" are available. I'm saying that we don't know the facts of this particular situation and everyone's version of the "facts" ALWAYS depends on where their support lies. Not one person in this thread who is criticizing the president for what the president said is someone who likes or supports him. You don't think that makes a difference in the "facts" that are known in this story?
