I didn't see the game last night but dvr'd it and am watching it now. I am only in the 2nd qtr with 5 mins left in the half and am real curious to see how the offense play calling got much different in the 2nd half that everyone is complaining about. I don't know how much conservative you can get than the 1st half. It's run run run run run run run pass run run etc.

 

I can't see how the play calling can get any more conservative than it is in the first half. Maybe the difference being they moved the ball on the ground much better in the first half.

Correct they were moving the ball easily in the first half running it. SC sells out to stop it in the second half and we keep doing the same thing.

 

When UK would go with the three backs in the backfield they were getting cover 3 and the slant was there all day. Maybe go to that look again in the second half for a little pitch and catch.

 

 

Loved it when Towles tucked it and ran it in for the score! I also loved the Qb draw, Towles can run, use it some more. Maybe as the season goes on they will utilize his speed and mobility more.

Dawson said last week that we would take what the defense gave us. If SC was taking away the run & giving us the pass, it seems like we would take the pass, especially on long yardage situations.

That's my point of my post. There wasn't any play action in the first half so why do peoe say the play calling

Changed in the 2nd half? Sounds like the same offense was ran in both Halves the only difference was apparently they didn't run it as good as they did first half.

If folks want to really be honest I thought SC did a poor job of tackling and they were manhandled on the line in the first half. In the second half SC could have corrected it and that may have played more of a part than in UK's offense than the play calling.

 

I do think it was good to see UK finish this game and get the victory. They could have a long year because they can't keep the defense off of the field of they could build from this and continue to grow and win when they are in this situations on the road in the SEC. Mark Stoops took the blame for UK's play in the second half. He reminded us that they are young and will make mistakes but he said he will fix it. This is a huge win for Stoops and the program.

It looked to me like our defense played 1 yard off the ball. Did I see that right? And if so, isn't that automatically giving the opponents a yard each play?

For all the people upset about the play calling, the first play of the 2nd half was a pass for 15 yards that called back for holding. The offense started each of the 1st two possessions 1st and 20. With a 17 point lead you don't take a ton of chances backed up in your own territory.

 

The defense played a heck of a game in my opinion. USC had great field position the entire 3rd quarter. They gave up 2 touchdowns and the first one was a 2 yard drive.

Anybody know about the extent of Horton's injury? I didn't see when he went out, was it something bad or will he be back? He adds a dimension to the run game that no one else has.
