"UK has now lost eight players since the season ended, four of whom still had eligibility remaining. Interestingly, more players have left the team this year than when former coach Eddie Sutton was forced to resign and players left due to the NCAA sanctions in the late 1980's."

This is part of an article on LEX18.COM that I thought was a bit of an eye-opener to say the least. At the same time I wish I knew how to find the threads on here that all the "Tubby supporters" were telling me how off-base I was saying that 8-9 players from last years team would not be coming back. Now this article was about Shag and him being academically ineligable this year and that is all on him,but I guess this is the players we recruit now.Tubby needs to keep his projects limited to the court and not the classroom. So go ahead and bring on the "Well this isn't Tubby,s fault" or "You just don't like Tubby" stuff.Thats all good and I'll be the first to say I hate Tubby as a coach, recruiter, and motivator but facts are facts and you can't run a high level basketball program if you don't have players around to coach, and it's impossible to recruit when highschool kids see stuff like this. But this stuff is all on the players right?Well U.K. b-ball is definately on it's way down the toilet, but if Barnhardt acts quickly enough he can slip that rubber glove on and pull it out before it's to late.I'll tune back into U.K. basketball when this nightmare is over.:thumb:

Facts are.........

Tubby's teams still produce on the floor, Tubby can coach anyone but RR.

Man PS was a worthless D-3 player...........

For the most part, I've been a Tubby supporter. I certainly think he is an excellent X's and O's coach that just struggles at recruiting. Here's my question throughout this process of watching this exodus: If UK can't get top tier players in this type of situation, when will they ever get them? Typically the major issue with getting the top players is that they want to play right away. Clearly, UK is in dire need of players. They were already going to lose starters (Up to 4 I think, depending on the setup: Stockton, Sparks, Rondo, Alleyne), now they're losing all kinds of players. Counting walk-ons, eight players are gone, over half the roster. And what do they have coming? Only five players, one of which looks really rough. So, as it stands right now, UK is three players shy of a full compliment. How, HOW, does that happen?

It's my only frustration with him. I know he can coach if given the right circumstances, but he has just had the worst time getting players in and keeping them.

I wouldn't stress too much on the late departures spots not being filled. As Warrior said, he seems to be solid on quite a few top prospects in the 07 class. If he strikes out there, be concerned...

Yeah UK basketball is going down the toilet right now? We have been having bad seasons for years now, I mean we weren't the number 1 team in the tournament for 2 of the last 4 years were we? We weren't a double overtime away from being in a final four with a very young team? Yeah last year wasn't a good year, but you act like its been going down for years now when that is not true at ALL!!!

I dont know the point your trying to make with all the players leaving. I mean I would think you probably would like that, because last years team wasn't that good and there needed to be changes. Tubby even said that himself and look what he has done he definitely has made a lot of changes to this team now. You put him down now for all the changes he has made to this team? I bet if he didn't make any changes you would be complaining about that too!!! Its to bad though that you are turning away from UK basketball now, but I hope you dont come back when Tubby does turn this thing around and has things going good again! :thumb:

Well said. And I have said this before: If we had lost 2 games this past season and 8 players departed we should be concerned. But with 13 losses shouldn't we be glad players are leaving. I like to think problems are being corrected. The only concern I have is why are so many problems having TO BE corrected.

Without being to negative, I'll make simple statement:

"This is NOT Kentucky basketball."

I can't argue with that. I wish I could. I keep my fingers crossed for a mixture of the dominating regular seasons where we flamed out in NCAA with 1998.

There's not a guy gone that I'm going to miss! The whole attitude and desire UK played with last year left a bad taste for me until it was too late. Sparks and Moss were OK but other than that.... good ridance! I think Tubby is a great guy. I would think that he has to get tired of all this pressure too. I like him but I think it's probably better for both parties if the went seperate ways. If he stays then I will back him but I hope he starts getting some better talent in here!

I have been a Wildcat Fan for 25 years, as long as I could remeber. It is ok to be a fan of a Team and disagree or not like their coach and players. When Tubby takes a buyout or quits we as true fans a left with what he has done his tenure here. I will remain a lifetime fan of Uk, but I refuse to support Tubby any longer. And the last time I checked a slump or downfall starts with one bad year!
