I agree. I have no idea who to slot in their places but I would expect AP people to know that answer. I guess they're like everyone else and are getting lazy.

So you find no logic in the poll yet are arguing a team that lost should move up in the poll over a team that won.

 

I think it is lazy to only consider whether a team won or lost, rather than who they played, where they played, and how the played. This is compounded when the original ranking was given before anyone played a single game.

To answer the question on Tennessee, they have been the media darling the whole off season. They have had a few great recruiting classes in a row and they return a lot. Plus the SEC East is weak when compared to the West. I think most people have either Georgia or Tennessee winning the SEC East. I don't buy the hype on UT until they do it on the field.

 

The SEC West is still a monster. This is coming from a Notre Dame fan. The problem the SEC has now is that most their talent is in the West and those teams beat up on each other. A few years ago the West and East were much closer in talent.

 

I have no problem ranking Bama, Auburn, A&M, Ark, Ole Miss, LSU, Georgia. Miss St and Tennessee are borderline for me.

The SEC didn't send a team to the championship game last year. Alabama lost to Ohio State in the first round of the playoffs. Ohio State beat Oregon in the championship game.

I love how Tennessee's record last year is used against them yet the SEC winning 7 of the last 8 titles is discounted.
