Who got left out that should replace the SEC teams?

Of course the playoff alleviates this to a certain extent, but this isn't basketball. The polls matter because each team plays so few games out of conference and the majority of those games are done for a paycheck. When conference time comes around, some things get sorted out, but when a team has their rank inflated it makes the teams that beat them look better, and the winners seem better with a ranked win.

So is the prorogation of SEC mythology that is no longer merited.

It's the AP poll. About as relevant as the Harris Poll these days. It's the same crowd that only watch highlights and listen to Herbstreit and vote how he speaks. Alabama is good, but Wisky was breaking in a new O Line and have no playmakers on O. Oh, and the same D that gave up over half a hundred to Ohio State. A&M is the hallmark win, but vs Az State? Who are they? When they ever win a game deserved of being ranked ping me. Still some really bad teams in that conference. USC pulled Houdini to beat a bad UNC team. Vandy lost at home to western. UK is well, UK, but keep thinking your gonna win with kids from Ohio that Meyer or Harbaugh or Dantonio have no interest in. Stoops has built IU South.

 

SEC probably would still get my vote as top conference, but things will shake out. Will a loss actually be a loss this year, or like in years past will it be overlooked as long as it's to an SEC team? We shall see.

Which poll do you like? The coaches poll had 9 teams with the teams ranked pretty much the same or at least close.

That's the problem. I'm sure there are some teams that were left out deserving to be in. If I had a vote I'd do due diligence to do all I can to get my ballot as close to perfect as it can be. I think name recognition and conference prestige takes precedence over the actual product being out on the field. It's much easier to say well, Mississippi State is an SEC team so they get the nod over Duke.

7-6 Tennessee has no business being in the Top 25. We can start there.

What about 1-0 Tennessee? Again who do you put in over them? I think you can make an argument for several but could also argue Tennessee over those teams.

I would guarantee there is no way all voters watched every game. My point is we can't just assume those teams were voted in because they have SEC painted on their field. We can play "what if" all day long but the fact is UL didn't beat Auburn.

BYU went on the road and beat Nebraska. And had a better record in 2014.
