Because he has a very good football team and knows it.

Maybe, but we don't have to look too far in the distant past where he had pretty good teams and was still paying Harrison County and Seneca to come to Georgetown for annual beat downs.

This is quite an about face.

GNGsports: Obviously Scott County and McKee have really stepped up their schedule. I have poked fun at some of McKee's schedules over the years. Any idea why the change?

Maybe the fact the end is near for the 6A Scott County football classification. I believe they have one or two seasons remaining before the new high school is open.

Pulaski won state yeah. But they played a bunch of second tier squads to get it.... No offense but Cooper was a team of juniors.

So was Pulaski. The Maroons return 19 of 22 starters from last season. Both Cooper and Pulaski are pretty much the same teams as last season personnel wise.

The two things I have gotten from him this season are a mixture of not being able to find games (don't think he or SC is a fan favorite for opposing teams to play lol) and him realizing that his team was never truly tested. And it cost them last year.

My fourth year covering the football team every day in season and I think I've only seen six games where the varsity was playing in the fourth quarter. Trinity (2012) Highlands (2012), Male (2013) Henry Clay (2013) and Meade County twice (2013, 2014).

Everyone loves blowouts, but there's a lot to be said mentally about being in a dog fight in the fourth. And I think he's finally owned up to that.

** Edit ** Actually, Highlands in 2012 was a blowout too, so that one doesn't count. But I forgot the lost to Bryan Station last year. So still six.

Good stuff. Thanks GNGsports.

I have always thought that Scott County and Highlands given the distance between the two just made sense. I would also think that Scott County and Lex. Cath. makes sense as well.

The one team who is praying Scott County puts it on the Bluebirds has to be Pulaski County.

Good stuff. Thanks GNGsports.

The game in 2012, was a complete culture shock to SCHS. I've never seen the kids look like that since. I can't really get a keen grasp on this Friday's game, but several of the guys who are seniors got embarrassed that night. Revenge factor is usually overrated and has no bearing, but it will still be there.

Agree about Lex Cath. From 2003-2008 they did play, but SCHS only had one win. No games since, though. Could be one of those where neither side wants to play anymore. Idk.

They dress freshman in regular season games?

Once the RB fumbled at the 5 yd line going in, and Highlands scored in 3 plays, the wheels starting shaking. An int at the 20 yd line, and a Highlands' quick score, blew them off of the axles. SC looked really good before those 2 possessions.

Stand corrected. My math was off. Only think Keith Guy saw action that year. They do have two freshman starting this year. First time since 2008.

The fumble was huge from what I remember. The RB had broke a long, long run. Interception was a bad mistake by a sophomore QB. Was standing right there. HHS def had its way after that.

Boy that's strong to be able to start for a top 6A team. That doesn't happen very often. Good luck to them. Except this week of course.

I'm hoping for another good game. First half last week was very exciting. Kudos to Pulaski County, who brought by far the biggest fan bases to the game that I've seen in my time here. Expecting another good one this week.

Can you confirm that the game is at Georgetown College and starts at 7:30. Waiting for kids to get off work and want to be able to get something to eat before the game.
