This ruling will only help Ky high school football, but don't expect it to come fast. It'll make things more balanced and turn out better football prospects across the state.

If you have the state powers play out in the region, then the expectations as to who will be playing in the finals will be diff.. Example. Lexington schools up until this point looked forward only to playing in the semi's because thats where they would more than likely meet Trinity. Not saying that the Lex. schools haven't had the talent to beat a Trinity (check the 03 state semifinal matchup at Trinity), but i think that upsets and better preparations statewide will be the outcome of this. In addition, you cannot prepare for a playoff matchup for Region in week 5 because you have no clue of your opponent.

I enjoy watching the Bluebirds play, and have played against them myself at some point in time. They were not better athletes than us, but they were alot more disciplined as a team and followed through with their assignment very well.

If I can jump into this little fray, I assume that he's saying that if different schools start making it to the state title game, its likely that football will become a "bigger" sport at those schools, thus encouraging more kids to play football, which will result in better prospects being generated, etc., etc. Nothing succeeds like success as we all know. If more than two big schools compete for the AAAA title because in certain years X and T will have eliminated one another before the state game, its possible that a by product will be more schools will have better athletes playing football. Now I don't think that this was the intent of the KHSAA nor should it necessarily have been a reason for doing what they did, but it could be a positive by product of the change. Just my thoughts on the matter.

not in '99. they were fresh of the grad of Lorenzen and co.. I'm not saying they weren't a good team, and they won the game. It would be safe to say the henry clay and bryan station teams were better and considered great. HHS has great coaching and a community who supports the program tremendously, but to say they were better man for man, no. just played better as a group of 11 while on the field. No egos to worry about, players accept their roles at HHS better than alot of other places.

I still don't see it. I would hope that guys would want to play football and dedicate themselves to the sport for the love of the game, their school and their teammates ... not because some convoluted "blind draw" might give them an easier route to the state finals.

 

Gee, if that's what it takes to elevate football in this state, let's just get rid of Trinity and St. Xavier altogether.

HHS '00- really didn't need to much coaching for success.

99 was D1 talent that was waiting behind D1 talent. Think 98, 00 and 05. There is a TON of talent at HHS year in and year out...
