Why was Cornell Burbage let go or why did he quit after only having the job for less than a month? This is an odd situation. Can anyone shed any light on all of this?

the former tiger would be a great catch for WJ.

I think he would fit quite nicely!!!

Are we all speaking of Tony the tiger or what? I thought he had a pretty good gig, selling cereal.

It's a shame he had to leave either to attend to his family or unfair pressures?

If thats the case

After talking with a couple of kids from WJ, they said that he left under his own volition. Word is, is that they knew when they hired him he was not a certified teacher, they (the administration) knew they made that mistake and he stepped down.

From what I hear he wanted to be paid before he did anything. Such as a weight program, Spring ball, any up coming 7on7's. The kids didn't like him and he made the parents mad with his bad attitude.

It doesnt seem that the "coach" was in the wrong ...

Why do schools do stuff like this? - arrogance, ignorance, indifference, ineptitude? (gosh I'm using those too much recently:confused: )

It just puts everyone in a bad light.

Maybe they though they could slide him through but when the other stuff became public they couldn't take a chance of close scrutiny?

(don't mean to dredge up any unfortunate stuff)

That's the way Jessamine Co. Schools operate. :irked:

My understanding was he didn't even go to weight lifting. He had one of his assistants run it. Maybe that had something to do with it?

You don't HAVE to teach to coach anymore....That was done away with a few years ago. Now if he applied as a teacher and was not certified I can see the problem. Plus no public school employee that I know of starts getting paid for the next year's contract until August of the year the contract takes effect.

It's hard to fathom why a coach would do this. How can you be successful if you exclude yourself from your own team? Don't get me wrong, I like money, but nobody becomes a coach to get rich. If money is his motivator he picked the wrong line of work IMO.

EVERY coach is replaceable. Sounds like he got to big for his britches. In the end, the student/athletes are the ones who suffer.

Big for his britches is an UNDERSTATEMENT!

It seems to me this job would be a great opportunity for anyone. I would love to have it myself. What is the situation? I may not be aware of all of the pro's and con's.
