West Jessamine Coach...out!

Featured Replies

If there is a certified teacher that applies for a head coaching job you have to give it to them. The ruling that passed said that if no certified teachers applied then you could hire a para-professional to be the head coach, before this ruling you could not. This was done because some places could not get a teacher to coach.

That makes NO sense to me, and to be honest I've never heard this period....and if that is the case a small school from where I'm from is in some serious trouble by letting a teacher go to hire a para-professional:sssh:

Okay here is the situation YOU say couldn't happen...Bear Bryant wants to coach at your school but doesn't have a teaching certificate, but Jonny Knownothing applies who is a certified teacher and gets the job???? I really think your wrong about this......But heck I could be too.

You are correct about you being wrong. Any time there is a Certified teacher that is interested, they get the first look at the job. If whom ever is hiring the coach thinks he is qualified enough to take the position then usually he is hired.

East Jessamine, Lex Cath, Harrison, Anderson, Franklin, Western Hills & Bourban.

Okay..I just read By-Law-27 and it stinks....IMO why allow para-professionals to apply then??? Except for assistant jobs....I guess I can see what the K"HS"AA is doing but I'm not sure these rules have always been followed.:sssh:

Burbage is a good man and an extremely good coach. Had alot to do with some pretty good state title runs in Lex.. Dunbar '96 and Bryan Station '99. West fans would've been in for a treat. He emphasizes technique to the bone as well as heart, discipline, speed, and togetherness. The former Dallas Cowboy and UK wideout is an offensive guru.

Well aparently from the previous post he wasn't too much about discipline and togetherness since he hardly steped foot into the weight room.

Not qualified and not being a good coach is two diff things. He has been in the backgrounds working with guys making them better (Ask former UK player Dougie Allen). He is willing to help anyone who is serious about the game of football. Some sundays you might catch him out at a local high school helping some seniors who are going to college prepare for the transition. Send him someone u know. You'll see a diff. in a week.

So mabye he would be a great position coach. Having the ability to coach and being able to handle all of the administrative duties that a head coach must handle are two different things. There are a lot of great position coaches who dont do well as a head coach.

Partially true statement. He just spent a full season as an intern head football coach on the collegiate level and the guys responded well to him. He knows a whole lot about football, it would have been a treat for West fans.

What college was that at?

What college was that at?

He was the interim head coach at Kentucky State University in Frankfort. The team won 8 or 9 games that year.

Correct. If he could do that, I would like to think that the job at West would be a little easier.

You obviously have not been around the administration in Jessamine County!!!! Nothing is easy there.
