There is no comparison to this Boyle team and the two teams that lost to John Hardin. This Boyle team is much better and I am sure that history will show that by the end of the season. Those John Hardin teams were very good though, probably better than this CH team.

I hope this carries into October when you guys roll into Dyehouse Stadium. That place is gonna be ROCKIN! I've truly missed the Boyle/Garrard matchup. Love this area's football teams!

I will have to admit, the unknown of a new starting QB, has me a bit nervous going into the first game of the season. At this point, there is no doubt that those John teams were more talented. As the season progresses I think you will see a Central team that improves each week and gives Bowling Green a run for their money. If you look at Centrals schedule, It has to be one of the most difficult in the state regardless of classification.

Traditionally running teams don't defeat Boyle County. Especially with Jeff Hester running the defense. You named two teams. They very well could be the only two primarily running teams to defeat Boyle since Mercer County in 2006 or Bell County in 2008 and in 2008 it was Bell County passing the ball that played a part in defeating Boyle. The teams that have given Boyle the most trouble traditionally are teams that can efficiently move the ball through the air. Boyle County fans aren't going to be scared of a team that throws the ball less than 15 times. That's just the way we are wired.

 

We've watched some damn good RBs on running teams meet their demise against some seemingly outmatched Rebel defenses. The list of names that lost to Boyle County is impressive. Kelvin Turner, Joe Casey, JJ Jude. That's just off the top of my head. We've been spoiled by dominant defenses that can stop the run.

 

Now Boyle's run Defense has always been good back to when Chuck first coached at Boyle. The two John Hardin teams we are talking about was a time that Chuck was not at Boyle and those John Hardin teams were really good. I think those years were Matt Elam's Soph. and Junior years. If we were to go back and look, I bet there was not many team that ran on Chuck's that ran on Jeff's team's. And the John Hardin team we are talking about were about the only two team that could run on Jeff's D.

Those two JH teams were special, especially the 2011 team. Unfortunately, they are only remembered for getting blown out by Bowling Green. Both of the Boyle County games, they didn't run particularly well compared to most of the other games on their schedule those two years. They were efficient, but not dominant. In 2011 I believe they had two passing TDs and two running TDs. In 2012 they had two passing TDs, an interception return for a TD and two rushing TDs. Anyway, as dominant as those two JH teams were, Boyle was a solid group that played good, disciplined team defense. I just believe this is CH's most talented group of kids they have ever had and if the QB can make some throws they will be hard to beat.

Regarding the John Hardin game 3 or 4 years ago I really believe it was their defense that won the game for them. Sure, they had a little bit of success running the ball but if I'm correct, that 2012 game, Boyle County had around 120 or 130 total yards of offense. It was a short field for John Hardin all night. That along with some successful long pass plays. Not making excuses for Boyle County, just calling it what it is. Those John Hardin were talented for sure.

Game time tonight. It felt weird not having the game on Friday.
