September 29, 201510 yr I look at a couple of those guys you have listed and don't think they will ever be a major league starter. Why would we waste time playing them? That's why they should've been playing now. Guys like Rodriguez and Waldrop may never be starters. You know how you find out? Give them an extended look when the season is already lost to see if they can hang around. You say it would've been wasting time....How is it any more of a waste of time than running the crappy Jason Bourgeois and Skip Schumaker out there?

Why would you start their clocks early though, especially in a down year.
September 29, 201510 yr Why would you start their clocks early though, especially in a down year. I could buy that argument if both Rodriguez and Waldrop hadn't been called up earlier in the season.
September 29, 201510 yr I would have rather seen Winker given a September chance instead of names like Negron and LaMarre, along with Schumacher. Am sure Duvall(who I like) took away game chances as well. Is there any particular reason Winker and Stephenson didn't get called up?
September 29, 201510 yr Not even in the realm of being close enough, but this is about what you can expect with this group. If they were truly trying to "blow it up" Chapman and Bruce both would've been gone and we'd have seen the likes of Waldrop, Duran, Winker, Rodriguez, Reed, etc. in September. Still a long ways to go. Need to find ways to move Chapman, Bruce, and Phillips in the offseason. ^ This
September 29, 201510 yr Why do we want to be like the Astros' date=' they are tanking fast.[/quote'] Young, talented, competing for a playoff spot, and a low payroll? Who would want that?
September 30, 201510 yr Why do we want to be like the Astros, they are tanking fast. Looks to me like they have won 3 in a row and 6 of 9...
September 30, 201510 yr I got in the car last night at 10pm and my radio is set to 700 wlw. I hear Marty's voice say and we are ready to resume this game in the bottom of the first. I drove on Ft Washington Way past tge stadium and the stadium lights were bright but there were zero people standing on the concourses. I continued to lis ten and honestly had no clue who Marty was talking about in the game. It was like listening to a minor league game. The Reds need to fire Jocketty and Price and deal Chapman, Bruce and Phillips in the offseason for whatever they can get to rebuild. It may take 2 yrs but these past 2 yrs were abysmal. If they don't fire this 2 then this organization is not committed to fixing the problem.
September 30, 201510 yr I've got a free ticket to Thursday's game. What is the over/under on how many foul balls I will get because nobody else is there? At least, I will not be at work.
September 30, 201510 yr Anybody else think Maddon allowed #6 (what a weird # for a P) to pitch to Votto as sort of a "gift?" Brought Wood in after he walked Votto on 4 straight out of the zone. If the 3-0 pitch was right down the middle, I would have loved to see Votto jump on it. Even if he lined out it would have been nice to see he wanted to earn it v. have it given to him. As Cowboy & Thom mentioned, didn't look comfortable all night. Doubt he is in the lineup tonight. Only real reason to watch the game.

We know what Bourgeois and Schumaker are. I would rather waste at bats on some long shot than on those two.

September 30, 201510 yr That does nothing to solve the Reds issues, new ownership is needed to fix the Reds. Sure it does....Jocketty is the guy that buys the groceries and Bryan Price cooks the meals. They will end up letting go a pitching or bench coach cuz those are the real problem areas. I mean the pitching coach had a staff of rookies and the bench coach....Sure he suggested they did a couple hit n runs that didn't work out. Anything other than cleaning house will be an insult to Reds fans. Bring back Wayne Krivsky!
September 30, 201510 yr I think I saw that we've had 18 rain delays at home this year. That's obnoxious.
