I didn't watch the entire debate, but I saw the clip where Wallace asked Christie & Huckabee both about Social Security & how to address its problems. I thought Christie handled Huckabee on that. He gave specifics concerning what he would do to fix the problem, while Huckabee simply chose to blame those responsible for making a mess of the system. I believe what Huckabee said was accurate, but he never really addressed how he would fix it and I liked it when Christie called him on that.

 

As I've said elsewhere, I think Christie's time was 2012. I don't see him winning, but he is probably who I would vote for if the primary was today.

I think Trump refusing to support the GOP candidate, if it's not him, was very telling. He is basically trying to hijack the election by saying elect me or I will run a third party campaign which will give Clinton the White House.

 

He didn't refuse to support the GOP candidate if it wasn't him. He refused to support the GOP Candidate if he didn't believe he was a good candidate. I bet there are a couple guys on that stage, Kasich being one of them, that Trump would support.

Well, I don't agree with his logic. Giving and paying taxes are two completely different things.

All kidding aside I think pimps and prostitutes should pay taxes. I know that isn't realistic but out of principle I agree.

 

To me after last night the star was Rubio. Down to earth, parents came from Cuba, articulate, modest up bringing, smart, looks good on camera. Biggest concern is he is kinda perfect, maybe too smooth. Will he be seen as a smooth talking politician? Of course that didn't hurt Bill Clinton so we will see.

 

Next for me was Ben Carson, I thought he was awesome and I agree with where he stands on big issues. Can he run the country? No idea but for 1 night he was impressive.

 

Bush and Walker, disappointed especially in Walker. Neither made many points and in Bush's case he stammered around a bunch. I'm sure I, like many Americans, have a preconceived notion about him.

 

Huckabee, I like him. I thought he had a good night but we've been down this road before. He won't be in the race long.

 

Trump, I love the guy. I don't think he has a chance but as I said earlier he should be on every stage from now on. I personally have no issue with how he answered the first question. If the nominee is Christy I wouldn't support him either.

 

Paul, I thought it was a desaster for him.

 

Cruz, whom I like just can't capture the enthusiasm necessary to win. Always seems angry about something.

What is always interesting to me is the challenge of appealing to the country vs appealing to the likely GOP voters. I've read that Sen Rubio and Gov Kasich are not the pick of the hard-core GOP.

Couldn't agree with you anymore on that @Randy Parker. It was refreshing that someone actually gave an idea/plan on how to fix something.

I can't see Biden coming in unless Clinton starts to get a real scare from Bernie Sanders and he sees an opening.

I honestly don't know. Last time out, several guys hung around longer than I expected because they had billionaire money-men funneling money into SuperPACs that prolonged their campaigns longer than they ever would have before. You get one billionaire in your corner and you have a war chest that can scream your name from the mountaintops for quite some time.
