If you go to the Clinton News Network and search Cecil the lion there have been 36 articles written in the last week. Search Planned Parenting and you get 19 articles and an add for an abortion clinic.

 

Could we please placing more value on a lion than on humans. I don't give a baker's you know what if they are endangered or not.

 

How about we let this dentist hunt those PP employees?

I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. If this is related to the absurd and ridiculous abortion comparison you've lost me.

 

I'm not sure what your dog has to do with it but since you brought it up. You said you said you valued your dogs life over a person you had never met. Just trying to see where you stand with a lion you never met versus a person you never met.

I do not hunt and have never hunted. Zero interest to me.

 

However, if this same lion had been off of the protected area and they lured him in and then shot him I'd have no issue with it. I don't care how beloved the animal was. I do not care that he was part of a pride. I do not care if they mount the head on the wall. If it's done legally then I'm cool with whatever you want to do and do not care how much they spend. No different than I don't care how much your boat costs or your country club membership. It's your money.

 

But the guy knowingly (most likely) knew that his actions were illegal. Not sure if they can try him or not and I doubt he would be extradited. Guy probably got lucky in that regard.

Sorry I have bigger things to worry about than a Lion getting killed in Africa. If I got worked up over this I'd have to question my priorities.

I hate to see you admit that, because I feel exactly the same way. We are supposedly the apex being on this planet, and by and large we too often exhibit behaviours more becoming of lower species: uncontrolled propogation, killing for the sake of killing, genocide, soiling our nest...

Everything about this story bothers me. I hate it when people just shoot innocent animals for sport. I just cannot imagine lining up in your sights an animal and killing it just for sport...just don't get it at all.

 

What I also find astounding is that in less than 12 hours we have had close to 50 posts about this incident, most saying how much they disagree with the hunting. In another thread about the three Planned Parenthood execs casually talking about doing later term abortions and selling the body parts for money (and doing so while drinking wine and eating salad in one instance), we have had less than half the responses of this thread in over a week. It would appear that the killing of one lion in Africa gets people more upset than our tax monies providing $500MM a year to Planned Parenthood. I really find that interesting...and disturbing...

 

Your passion is respected but has nothing to do with this thread. I read that thread, and it immediately jumps on a pro-life bandwagon for which some of us are not (within limitations of course). Then the harvesting of organs of a fetus or a 3 year old child for that matter if done with the consent of the parent is not quite the barbaric topic it is painted to be by the pro-lifers who are looking more like PETA. Sorry, and I will devote more time to viewing the video, but I am not yet buying the similarity.

The same sentiment can be used on almost any thread in BGP. The Caitlin Jenner thread, the Tom Brady thread, the book thread, the NBA thread, the golf thread, etc. I guess many of us BGP posters have messed up priorities. :idunno:
