I went up to the local Recruiting office (today) and set up a guard post to protect the troops inside (who are not permitted to carry weapons).

 

Some very nice people stopped and thanked me for what I was doing. One young woman nearly broke my heart. She thanked me profusely and said "I was afraid when my husband, a Marine recruiter, was in Afghanistan and Iraq BUT I am terrified that he is in harms way in the U.S." She was crying and I was pretty close.

 

I'll be back tomorrow & until the Congress gets in gear and changes the policy.

We are starting to see several incidents like this all across the country. I love it. Thank your friend for protecting our troops today.

This photo was taken in Owensboro today. From comments I saw on Facebook apparently these gentlemen and some of their friends plan to continue to guard this office for who knows how long.

 

I'm not sure that this is the best solution to the problem but I admire the gesture. I assume that these men are veterans themselves.

I think I saw where a few states including Indiana had legislation passed or pending by their Governors to allow National Guards to be posted as security at these places until something is done at the federal level.

 

I like the move, I think it's appropriate by both the people and the politicians taking such a quick initiative.

Appears that some government officials have asked the Marines to not wear their uniforms for their own safety. Seriously who is running this country? We light up the White House like a rainbow but won't lower the flag for 4 murdered marines. We invite a trader and his family to the Rose Garden but won't lower the flag for four murdered marines.

 

Why are we not outraged? Forget you party alliances, these actions are deplorable and cannot be defended.

I appreciate the gesture, but if I'm a recruiter how do I know you're not a wingnut who may be going to turn your gun on me or anyone else around?

Is the flag ever lowered to half staff when a military member is killed in the line of duty?

 

I thought it was only lowered when civilians were killed.
