Did Drew Barker really do this?

Featured Replies

Let's not derail the thread.

If we are finished with the topic we can close this one?

I dont think we are finished yet though. How many more bad decisions is this kid (actual an adult but whatever) going to get, and be allowed to disrespect his program before something is done?

Look at the tape again, uk#1fan. He has a tight grip on her right wrist. She is trying to break free from his grasp. Her swing at him with her left hand is her way of fighting back because she cannot break free from him. Notice that he then smacks her with his right hand, while still holding her with his left hand.

If you cannot see that, I give up.

If you had a daughter, you would teach her that when a someone grabs you, you fight back to try to get free!

On this note, if you have daughters, I highly recommend contacting your local police to inquire about their RAD program. (Rape Aggression Defense). This is a great program that teaches young women not only how to defend themselves against an attack in order to get away but also how to be aware and not fall victim to date rape drugging while in bars and what to do when someone has a gun on you and wants to take you somewhere. Lots of great information! At the end of the program, you can put what you've learned to the test as you are "attacked" by an officer.

He didn't do any of that here though.

I don't equate stupid comments with bad decisions. I sure don't see it as disrespecting his program.

For me, the leap from Barker to Pike isn't a huge one. Both did things that are dangerous to themselves and to others. Neither had the greatest reputation in football circles in NKY, although Drew got the golden boy treatment by some in the press.

If Zeke had the arm of Drew, he's still be at Auburn. The exact same reason Drew is still at UK and not floundering at a lesser school. Hopefully this last minor misstep is enough to wake him up and make him realize he isn't the only kid in the world with a strong right arm and he has an expiration. If the depth chart were a little deeper, I'd have to think he'd been gone after the bar fight.

Why is Pat starting IFDrew is better? Maybe he is a 'professional' when it comes to studying the playbook, his competition and puts in the work needed to be a team leader.

^ Good post NKYB, and the others pointing out this is another mistake in a pattern going all the way back to high school for Barker. When will maturity finally kick in? Hopefully this is the last of these incidents we see out of Mr Barker.

IDK, shooting off a weapon outside at night, that could potentially hit someone and cause injury or death seems pretty bad to me.
This one really made me laugh.

The harm was in the panic that carrying a weapon on campus can create, and that is a real issue to be dealt with.

Be honest, though, there wasn't any real threat to anyone of "injury or death". That's just hyperbole, and really funny.

No harm till a gunfight breaks out on campus and lives are lost, but Im glad we can laugh about it, because its a laughing matter.

I don't think this is something huge that Drew should have any repercussions for...but I certainly think the apology was called for. Frankly, I think the bad press is repercussion enough. It makes Drew look dumb for publicly making a dumb statement like that. Should Stoops step in? I don't really think so, except maybe to tell him to get his head out of his rear end, and *maybe* to give him a few extra windsprints.

Still, this shows poor taste and lack of good judgment on Drew's part (yet again). Not exactly a desirable quality in a D1 quarterback, which...just maybe, could be a contributing factor and have a little something to do with Drew's notable time on the pine.

I don't really buy that. Jameis Winston lacked good judegment for sure, but I don't really believe that translates to the football field.

Because it's a comparison of a civil soccer match victory to one of the deadliest attacks ever committed on American soil?

It may not be current events, but it ain't really "cool" either.

Really? It was a joke.....

Do people get offended when people wear "Back to back World War Champs" too?

This country is getting marshmallow soft.

Wussification of America continues.

Also who was offended?

The brave and tough Americans who beat Japan back into submission? Highly doubt it.....

Or the Japanese?

I live in Boone County and have never heard any problems in high school that you and others say happened. What are these problems?

I was the one who asked about who was offended. I still haven't had anyone say they were offended. As a matter of fact, a friend of mind had a grandpa who was in WWII and his family wasn't offended. Silly and unoriginal but hardly offensive.

Did Barker or Pike ever get a DUI in high school?

Barker had one incident he should be punished for. I'm guessing he was.

These other two supposed incidents are hardly newsworthy.
