Here's one that is no longer possible, but I went several times.

 

Attend the Mason Dixon games at Broadbent Arena. Lots of fun watching runners on that old heavily banked wooden track.

 

Had the pleasure of experiencing this in my younger days...loved that track, don't make 'em like that anymore

Take a picnic dinner and see a Shakespeare in the Park production.

I also echo hiking Cherokee Park, I suggest beginnjng just before dawn, either making a stop at, or starting at the top of Doggie Hill. Be still there and watch the sun rise. It was one of my favorite things to do with Lucky.

Browse the biannual Friends of the Library book sale.

 

Hike Jefferson Memorial Forest.

Great one! When you are done swing by Shack in the Back. Get the turkey ribs with white sauce appetizer.

Good calls on Iroquois Amphitheatre and The Palace as outstanding concert venues. Headliner's is also a great spot for regional and national touring acts and is a great place for a show. Really, though, you can't go wrong hitting some of the neighborhood dive bars when they have regional and local acts.

 

Everybody should ride a paddlewheeler if they get the chance.

 

Go crate-diving for vinyl at the embarrassment of quality record stores that have more than been able to fill the ear X-tacy void. If you're in for some real entertainment and don't mind digging through a ton of Andy Williams records, go to Electric Ladyland and just people-watch for an hour.

I would add the St. Joseph Orphan’s Picnic in August (it may be called something different now), on Frankfort Ave. I always remember it being the epic summer Church festival with a great chicken dinner.

 

Was just in L’ville last week and took a long walk with my sisters along Bardstown Rd. (with a stop at both Heine Brothers coffee and Graeters ice cream at the Douglas Loop). So fun!

Some people hate the crowds, but I always tell people they need to take in Thunder Over Louisville at least once from Waterfront Park.

 

Many of the suggestions by others here I strongly recommend as well.
