For those of you who think Jenner is doing this strictly for the money......how much would it take for you to do what she has done, and to do it very publicly?? Personally, there is no $ amount that would convince me to put myself through that process. Not even a billion $'s. So while She may be cashing a few extra checks, I'm betting it isn't nearly as much as many may think, and certainly not nearly enough for most people to decide going through a transformation would be "worth it"

 

I think the point is if Jenner always wanted to do it and would not feel free until it is done etc. then do it without producing a documentary etc that make money. He had the means to spend the money to transform without having to reap income from it. He could have simply resigned from that E show, announced thru a press release that he was transitioning, and then show up when he felt he had become Catilyn. 99% of the people making this decision would not be able to do it like he did so it is not like he is leading the way......

Here's a good way to continue your support for Lauren as well as give your money to a worthy cause in cancer research. Finding a cure for cancer is how we should celebrate Lauren's short life and her courageous fight.

I dont understand the hoopla about this, its ESPN's award, they can give it to whoever they want, whats the big deal.

A few checks? How about $500 million dollars over the next 10 years. That's what one firm has estimated his earning potential is going to be (sorry no link, heard it in a radio new clip yesterday). That's more than a few checks, and 5 times his estimated net worth now. Could it be for the money? Probably didn't discourage his decision, that's for sure.

 

My theory? He got into competition with Kris Kardashian/Jenner, didn't like playing 2nd fiddle to her and she making huge profits. He said "I'll show her", and he went down this road. That's not to say he wasn't mixed up/confused about his gender or whatever before this, the money and the jealousy just made it easier for him to go down this road.

Again, Jenner had had the time and money to do this for a long time. There will be less ramifications for Jenner ' s change than there would be for the athlete who does this while competing in a small community. Those Transgenders show courage. If we want to say that we award it in that criteria than pick a better person.

 

He was losing his spot in the "reality limelight", so is it possible that this had something to do with his timing?

Fair, I guess, but if Lauren Hill had been selected for the award, and the Adult Transgender Community complained that Jenner should have won, would there be any articles telling the Adult Transgender Community that they need to focus on raising money for their cause? Not a chance.

Just curious PP92, why would you despise Tebow? I agree he is not an NFL quality QB but he seems like a genuine person to me so I certainly don't despise a good guy who is chasing his dream.

Why? Is he a good Christian role model for advocating a narrow stripe of Evangelicism that supports the idea that Catholics aren't really Christians? He does his missionary work in The Phillipines, an overwhelmingly Catholic country. Is Ireland next on his radar since they recently passed gay marriage?

It's not that he does it, it's that he does it where it's not needed. Why do Catholics in The Phillipines need converting? His brand of evangelicism is divisive. I find when you peel back the layers on Tebow it's not as pretty a sight as what he projects as his image.

Not to nitpick, but I've seen many men who I would assume have a penis, walking around with man boobs that are comparable to women's breasts!
