Parents played a role in this??? OR was this a school decision??? Still amazes me how a few parents can affect the entire program and the lives of other people. I will say this again.....if she did not do anything immoral and unethical, she should not have been let go as a coach. She obviously was "good enough" as a coach to play longer than hundreds of teams in the state did? If the school HAD to cut her job, she should be on the top of the list for other job openings??? I would venture to guess some of those kids liked their coach....but those kids aren't the ones anyone thinks about.

Not sure of her certification but I don't know of many P.E. teachers who are certified in another area other than Health.

 

Now I do agree with you that if she did nothing wrong as a coach, she shouldn't have been let go in that position. However, unless she is getting paid a large sum to just coach; she can't survive on that stipend alone.

Her teaching contract was not renewed and therefore MC didn't want her as coach. I was texting 14 people last night on this matter. The timing is the thing that blows most people's mind.

 

They have to tell all teachers of intent to rehire by May 15th. Timing of it is no different than any other district.

 

Its pink slip season, is what it is.

Correct, all she had to do is work Day # 1 next school year to have tenure. This is not an uncommon practice. Several school districts are known for cutting every teacher right before they become tenure. It sucks, but its the way the system works.

Brian Littleton can flat out coach and is a very good teacher of the game.

 

Played against his teams many times and they were always well coached and played with a purpose.

 

I giggle reading about how good some high school coaches are. They are only as good as the players they are handed by guys like Brian.

 

Show me a successful high school program and i'll bet there are some Brian's roaming the sidelines on Saturday and Sunday mornings during the summer.

Same with Jason Hollan at MoCo year before last. Only lost 3 games and let go.

yes, as mentioned earlier the elimination of her position in H/PE must be a district only decision. We have 4 fulltime H/PE teachers @ our school & could use more if we had the room. State BOE doesn't dictate how many per subject area a school must have, it is dependent on the numbers of the school population.
