September 10, 201511 yr Suarez cannot play CF. Cozart off a surgically repaired knee can't either. Why are so many people so interested in moving guys out of their natural positions for no reason? Hamilton will be the starting CF next season. People just need to accept it, because it's the reality of the situation. Cozart or Suarez will be at SS. The other will either be at 2B (if they can move BP), or on the bench. Frazier will be at 3B. Mesoraco, if completely healthy, will be given every opportunity to be the everyday catcher. Only if he's completely unable to health-wise would they consider moving him. Winker, Rodriguez, Waldrop, Duran, and Duvall will all factor in the LF position come March. If Bruce is moved, one of the above 5 will be given every opportunity for RF as well.
September 10, 201511 yr Still not sure why no one is talking Meso to LF. If his bat truly has turned the corner, would be best to rest those legs as much as possible. That keeps Frazier at third. Winker to RF. Loser of the SS/2B decision (which should be Suarez) to CF. Defense may not be great but you'd hit the ball occasionally. I saw a stat on the jumbtron and it either said we were 1st or 4th in Fielding Percentage in the MLB. What's that gotten us? I think we can spare a little D to get a little more offense.

September 11, 201511 yr If you have guys that bat around 300, like the Cardinals whole teams does, you don't have to hit HR to win games, pitching, defense, and hitting with RISP does that. If you look at Bruce/Frazier, they hit a ton of HR's and very few RBI's with those HR, they are average batters, so you will get an average record. Like I said earlier those 2 lead the league in chances with drive in runs and have not produced. Votto gets on base and incredible clip and we never get him in, I have always wondered who works with our guys on hitting? They have to be fired because they stink. These 2 have the same holes and approach in their swings for the last 3 years. Could you imagine them playing in San Diego where you have to crush it to get it out, they would be batting below 200, half their RBI's would be gone, they would be a very mediocre player. We get rid of Encarnarcion who by they way was a "farm" kid, and he has been great at Toronto, which by the way changed his swing and approach. We struggle as an organization, we don't make the right hires, we don't sign the right people, we finally have some young talent coming in our systems if they pan out to be excited for. We are 2-3 years away from competing again, just have to deal with it, and catch some breaks.

They are winning because of great pitching. The Cardinals team batting avg is .254 and the Reds is .250. The Reds have more RBI's then the Cardinals (539 to 537) and the Reds have struck out less. And guess who the Blue Jays hired as their hitting coach this year. Brooke Jacoby, who the Reds ran out of town a couple years ago because he stunk. And with his hire, he was the fourth hitting coach in 4 years at Toronto. Edwin is still a career .266 hitter.

A - did they rush Hamilton? Yes. Defense has been surprisingly good. Baserunning has been as expected. Contact / hitting has been slow to come around -- if it ever will. B - why rush Winker and get his clock started in a year where .500 would be a monumental success? As it turns out, if Hamilton DOES figure it out, he's going to have 3-5 yrs. service under his belt and be heading out the door as the other talent and pitching comes together (hopefully).

St. Louis is 10th out 15 for BA with RISP - (NL only) #1 in all of baseball for team ERA.
