April 27, 201511 yr It's a start. New manager and new GM would be a wise move as well. Moving Bruce would be a solid next step. Leake, Frazier, Votto, Hamilton, and Mesoraco stay. The rest get made available. At least thats a plan. Not sure the Reds have one.
April 27, 201511 yr They definitely have to get rid of some things and move on. Its been the same story for 3-4 years now. No managing, no hitting with RISP, bullpen problems, management. The Cubs unfortuantely are looking as if they are doing it the right way, hired a manager, got great management and a winner, young players that are proving themselves, they need pitching and look out. With Wainwright out of the picture look for them to be in the playoffs. Would love to see Votto in the 3/4 spot, Cozart in the 2 spot for now, we have to get someone that can hit with RISP into that spot, Bruce/Phillips have to be got rid of somehow, and dont know if that is possible. Cueto/Chapman will be gone at deadline, we must get quality guys for them. The fact that Phillips has not even had an extra base hit in like 90 days is just astounding to me. He doesnt want to be here anymore, great defensively at time. You can just tell that he is done with the Reds.
April 27, 201511 yr To Edwin's credit, he changed his swing and approach and I applaud him for that, he also plays alot of first base and is a horrible defender. I doubt seroiusly that Jay will change his batting style. If he ever hits the ball to left field, pop out or foul, I will fall out of my recliner
April 27, 201511 yr When you hit to the right side only, strike out at a high rate, and its shifted defensively against you, you will have a bad average. I think that Votto has 6(HR) and 5 are to center/opposite field. Bruce and Frazier guess 100% of the time
April 27, 201511 yr Does Bruce wears contacts? I think he needs glasses. He needs a psychic because he's just guessing at the plate.
April 27, 201511 yr That might be giving him a little too much credit. I don't think he's a .250 hitter. Yeah, I think over the long haul, he's closer to .230 or maybe if he lucky, .235 .
April 27, 201511 yr Maybe they can push the Texas boys/new start for both Bruce and Bailey and get a good package deal with the Rangers. I would take a few real good minor league pitchers for the pair.

I have said for a couple of years now that Bruce needs to quit being so stubborn and work with a hitting coach to drive the ball to left center field. If he refuses, he can refuse while batting 6th for Louisville.

April 27, 201511 yr If that was an option it would have been done already. Agreed. Just hoping at this point.
April 27, 201511 yr They don't need young arms. They have those. What they need is young ML ready bats. They have Winker. That's about the extend of the guys that are ready or close to being ready.
