Female sports announcers

Featured Replies

Does anyone else have a hard time taking them seriously, when they are all made up, with their short dresses that are low cut at the top, their high heels and make up so thick it looks like they could be working on a street corner?

Hey, look, we have time traveled to 1954.

I never want to go back to the days without sideline smoke !

Attractive and smart females are used as "sideline" reporters because we all know guys will more often than not talk to them before some guy like Vern Lundquist. I don't really care for females broadcasting male sports.

Honestly, I usually pay no attention to whether the broadcaster is male or female. I'm more focused on whether or not they have an annoying voice or habit.

I often hear the criticism of female sports reporters. Like with any reporter, if they are smart and they know the team and sport, I am fine with it.

Sports reporting is a nice gig funded by both male and female fans alike, so I think that competent women should have the opportunity.

Give me a Doris Burke any day of the week on a college basketball game.

Or Kara Lawson.

I have no problem with female sports announcers. I do know a couple of guys who won't even watch a game with a female announcer.

I'm glad her name came up early. She's better than 95 percent of all the folks calling college hoops these days.

I don't watch nearly as much sports as I used to, but Doris Burke is the first female that I appreciate whether she is doing color or play-by-play--she is equally adept at either. Sideline reporters are put in a precarious position to my way of thinking; I could do without all of them...regardless of gender.

I just hate the stupid questions that are asked at halftime. "Coach, you are down by 30, are you gong to make any adjustments coming out of the locker room?"

I have no problem with female announcers, but I prefer men, specifically former players because I think they know what they're talking about more than anyone else.

I have ALWAYS said that she is one of the best in the business.

I am not speaking for @newarkcatholicfan, but I think he may be talking about the female reporters along the sidelines that may not know the game but are strictly there for sex appeal?
