100 MPH between Mt Sterling and Morehead going back to college one year in the early 70's

If I'm "in town" (25) only 2-5 mph especially in the river cities. Might stick to 20 in Bellevue due to those "entitled pedestrian cross walkers." In a 35 zone I'm 5-7 mph over. Once I hit the interstate I'm 10-15 over with the exception of the "known" speed traps where I'll re-visit 5-7 over mode.

 

The fastest I have ever driven was 125 mph up I-71 between Red Bank and Montgomery Rd. exits. Traffic was sparse and I felt "entitled." A Bavarian Motor Works vehicle brought out the inner adrenaline junky in me. That only happened once and thankfully no jail or ticket. I've never encountered a police officer in that stretch in 27 years of driving.

 

How about you all. What was the fastest you have driven?

I generally go 7 over on the highways on Cruise Control, and only go in the left lane to pass.

 

In the "city" (anywhere that's not the interstate) I go 5 over. I've never been pulled over in my extremely short driving career. :lol2:

About 9-12 over on the interstate depending on traffic. I don't have CC on my car so as much as I'd love to use it, I can't.

 

About 5 over in a 35 mph zone. Maybe 2 over if that in a 20 or 25.

 

And to answer C1's question, I hit 120 once for about two seconds to see what it felt like and then I brought it back to 75 (speed limit was 65). No traffic and it was clear sight up ahead for anything in the road and of course cops.

Time is money and we don't want the government wasting any money. :bunny:

 

And you don't want to impede the flow of traffic. Not too many folks are going to go past a police cruiser on the expressway.

My brother from another mother...exact same for me.

 

I get crap around town all of the time...wife accelerates like a Top Fuel Dragster and stops at the last second. I drive smooth and steady. I replace her brakes about 3 to 1 as often as mine.

 

Interstate I'm between 7-12 over...on two lanes no more than 5 over. I use CC when ever possible.

 

When I'm working I drive a little aggressive at times but when I'm in my personal car you would think I was driving Grandma around town. I actually utilized Progressive Insurances snapshot discount that you plug in and it monitors your driving. I actually got an 8% discount because of my driving tendencies. My Toyota Camry should last for quite a while.

And you don't want to impede the flow of traffic. Not too many folks are going to go past a police cruiser on the expressway.

If I'm on the interstate or something similar, I'll keep with traffic, or just fast enough to get out of traffic. If there isn't any traffic, 6 or 7 over. If it's in the middle of the night, probably faster. And if there is 3 or more lanes, I always stay in the middle except to pass.

One could only hope. Haven't had it in my car in about 9 months, everything seems to be working ok still.

I'm hooked on cruise control. Made the drive to Florida last year in a car without it and by the time I got there my hip and back were killing me.

 

I set it at about 78 as I drive through Georgia. Any slower and I'd get run over.

9 miles over on the Interstate via cruise control. I had a spell in my life where I was starting to rack up too many speeding tickets - so something had to change. Prior - I would drive between 80-90 MPH (and faster when I wasn't paying attention), depending on where I was.

 

I have not had a speeding ticket since adopting the new policy (knock on wood).

That is a whole other issue.

 

If a cop is doing the speed limit on the interstate, I will pass him every time...

I set the cruise for about 10% over the limit. If I see a guy going faster, I'll slide behind him for a few minutes. I've hit 100 in several of my rides just to see if they can doi it. Never been an issue. Fastest was coming home from the NCAA flag football championships in college We had rented Caddy's. The speedometer went to 120 and the needle was pinned, so not clue how fast we were going. I was in the back seat saying prayers.

It depends on what I am driving. My truck has an 8-speed transmission, and 74 seems to be a sweet spot, so I set cruise control there. When I had a Passat, I would go about 78....I miss that car. I may go a bit faster in our Ford Edge as well....76 or so if that fits in the flow of traffic.
