When you travel long distances on the Interstate what speed...

Featured Replies

do you normally travel at and do you use cruise control?

For me, 74 and yes. And 74 assumes the speed limit is 70. Otherwise I do five over.

Everyone?

If I'm on an interstate and the speed limit is 70, then I set it at 70. Not a fan of going any faster than 70.

If I'm on a highway that has a speed limit of 55, I set it at 60. I'm a consistent 5mi over gal, until you get to 70. 70 is my tops.

Is... is this a trap?

I would have posted it in the Tech forum if this was a trap.

Probably about 75-77 on cruise control provided it is 70. Most speed limits that go a long way with no traffic light I will do 5-7 over. That may or may not get me into trouble one day, but it's always seemed like the officers abide by the "Nine you're fine, ten you're mine" mantra.

I use cruise control religiously because I have a lead foot. If I don't do it, chances are I'm going to get a ticket.

I usually go 5 or 10 over depending on the speed limit; or I go with the flow of traffic.

I often stay around 75 to 80 once I'm "out" of "they city."

Fair enough. I usually hover just below 80 if the speed limit is 70 when driving on rural interstate.

Using CC?

I generally set cruise at 5 over on highways. When I am in residential areas I drive at the speed limit knowing its either a congested area or children are around.

I usually keep it around 6 over. 8-9 if it's a light traffic flow. Cruise control set when possible.

Using CC?

Depends on traffic conditions. Even if the lane I'm in is moving at close to 80, I don't like cruise unless there's a LOT of space.

For me, cruise control is only beneficial if you don't have to keep setting it, disengaging it, and then resetting it all the time. So, if the flow of traffic is 73, then that's what I'm setting it at. If it's 78...then, I'm there too. (I'll draw the line around 80 however, but honestly have never really experienced the "flow" being that fast anyway.) My best case scenario would be if nobody passes me, and I don't pass anyone else either.

As fast as I drive on the interstate is the exact opposite of how slow I drive in the neighborhood. I crawl and catch crap from my family.

I never use cruise control.
