I set the cruise for about 10% over the limit. If I see a guy going faster, I'll slide behind him for a few minutes. I've hit 100 in several of my rides just to see if they can doi it. Never been an issue. Fastest was coming home from the NCAA flag football championships in college We had rented Caddy's. The speedometer went to 120 and the needle was pinned, so not clue how fast we were going. I was in the back seat saying prayers.

We just drove to Florida. I set the Cruise control at 8 over the speed limit. That's how I roll! Always have.....

Interstate MPH 70 - I go 78.

 

Local roads MPH 55 - I go 62.

 

Obviously, dangerous county roads I stay at the suggested speed limit.

The truck has no cruise control. I usually try to stay 5 - 10 miles over the speed limit. However, when going up to Wisconsin last fall and traveling through the heart of Illinois, there were several times I looked down and we were cruising at over 100 mph. When you have no trees going by, it can get away from you.

 

When Mrs. S is piloting, she likes warp 9.5.

I set the cruise control to whatever the speed limit is on long trips.

I frequently rely on Cruise Control. I typically set the cruise control for 9-10 miles per hour over the speed limit. If I’m traveling a long distance, I’ll bump it up to about 12 over. If traffic is really moving, I’ll be traveling along with the fastest moving car.

 

I have had to travel to/from Chicago a fair amount recently, and it’s not uncommon for me to be going 85 – 88 through rural Indiana. I typically slow it down near Lafayette, IN where the IN State Police are located. I’ll be going 82 (or so) during that 3-5 mile stretch (speed limit is 70, I think).

 

There is a 5 mile stretch between my home & office that is heavily patrolled by police. I typically tone it down during that stretch to 55-60, although it is currently a construction zone and posted at 45.

I'm an 8 over person. Set the cruise and go.

 

I absolutely do not understand people who don't use cruise control.
