^ If we are going there the speculation is the Law of Non-Interference, a universal rule which implies that higher civilizations visiting another planet with a less developed population interfere with them as little as possible.

I will go one step further, I think life in the Universe is widespread and much of it is WAY WAY WAY more advanced than us.

I think it could be that or they're simply just more intelligent than we are from the get go.

Why does ET have to be smarter than us? Maybe we are the most advanced creatures.

Why would ET be packing? War and fighting may be a man made ideal, ET's may all be peaceful.

Why wouldn't ET say, "Hey Ya'll"? Why come all this way and not communicate with us?

If an alien civilization knows that we are here and makes it to us, they would have to be vastly intellectually superior to us. The farthest we have sent humans from our planet is the moon and that was only for a few days. Since an alien civilization would have to come from outside of our solar system, they would have technology far superior to ours. Whether or not they are hostile or friendly is a little more open ended.

Zero doubt in my mind.

 

My grandpa, who in many ways is about as conservative in his thinkings and beliefs as there is....as most are of his generation, was telling me the other day about the 'Ancient Aliens' on The History Channel. He just was saying that the more he watches, the less doubt he has that not only are there other lifeforms out there, but that they visited this planet well before we all decided to make it home.

 

I think that's the show? I've never watched it, but I'm going to tune in.

Using rough math, the Universe is about 14 Billions years old, Earth has been around for about 4.5 Billion years, that gives many planets an 8 or 9 Billion year heard start on us.

 

Think of it this way, where will we be with technology in 10 years? 100 years? 1 Million years? 1 Billion years? 9 Billion years?
