He already offered his apology. He misremembered facts, like the fact that his helicopter was never hit by a flying grenade. Just a minor detail that got mixed up in his memory fog. He had his chance to apologize and he blew it.

For those of you that identify on the left, what do you think should happen to Williams?

 

I have always liked the guy and I watch him when I watch nightly news but not anymore, that is a deal breaker for me.

This wasn't a little white lie that got away from him. This was a huge lie that he kept re-telling over and over again. So now I'm wondering what else has he been lying about? He has lost all credibility.

I totally agree with you. It drives me crazy when someone says something wrong and everyone wants him/her fired immediately. There seems to be no punishment other than firing that people will accept. THAT BEING SAID, he HAS put NBC in a tough spot. How can you look at the guy delivering the news every night knowing that he totally fabricated a story like this...and he did. I think he probably has to go.

My guess is NBC waits this out a little while and sees if his viewership numbers stay strong. The viewers (and advertisers) will eventually decide.

I used to watch it eleventy billion years ago at 11:30 PM on Saturdays.

If I am NBC, I probably give a 60 day suspension and maybe a demotion, thereafter. He just bold faced lied. I would understand if they fired him. Buy out may be a problem or more than they want to do.
