Sorry, but I completely disagree with this. Now, maybe you could make the argument that because Smithton County went 0-25 that Johnny Jones, a really good player for Smithton shouldn't be in the conversation because, well they would have went 0-25 without him. But beyond that I don't think it's fair to lump kids into the category of "their teams aren't a contender".

 

So, lets say Owen County goes 18-9 and loses in the fist round of the district tournament and misses out on region. Can Carson Williams now not be considered for MVP? Under your definition I would say that would be the case. Which is why I can't agree with it.

So essentially then you just took Carson Williams out of the conversation for the 8th region MVP (along with probably half the other guys on that list), because if they were to win the region it would be considered an upset and I don't think they will. Perfect example of why I can't agree with your original statement.

 

I WILL agree with you on Ruthsatz last year for CovCath. After seeing him play and what he meant to his team he would have gotten my vote for MVP.

No argument about Carson Williams from Owen County being the clear MVP for the 8th, because even though they have a couple good guards, Williams is Owen County. But if Williams wasn't in contention, Johnson from Grant Co. could very well earn this title. As far as what he means to his team, Johnson could very well be the MVP. One of the best pure point guards in the state.

I would have Knott Central's Evan Hall in the 14th region. He's a player that the Patroits absolutely have to have. They're the best team in the region and he's the MVP of that best team.

 

Now, the best player in the region is Cameron Justice. But Hall is the most valuable player.

Looking at KHSAA stats, Carson Williams may be the most valuable player in the state. 25 PPG, 14 RPG, almost 70% from the field. Take him off that team and I'm not sure how competitive they are.

Zach Pangallo - 9th region.

 

Kid can really play and makes the Breds go. He is the key to NCC getting out of the 9th region IMO.

7th: Waynie Sutton, Manual

8th: Carson Williams, Owen County

9th: Drew MacDonald, NCC

10th: Dorian Henry, Mason County

11th: Matt Rose, LCA (take him off the team and they're mediocre at best).

My belief is by the criteria of "most valuable", it's Tavin Lovan from Franklin-Simpson. No team relies on a single player as much and they have totally cratered since he's been injured. Bowling Green would be diminished without Sine, but they can and do win when he doesn't play his best and they would still be a threat if he was sidelined. Though, it is fair to note that they would have real trouble on the perimeter without him.

While Miller is a nice player, no way he is the MVP in the region. Miller comes out of the game, O'boro can still score, rebound with the players they have on the floor. The Griffith kid at Daviess IMO is the MVP, take him away from Daviess and they are just another team, this kid is the straw that stirs the Daviess County drink.

Braxton Beverly in the 14th IMO.
