HoopsLady
Congratulations buckeye fans. You deserve a little gloating this morning! However, I would point out that under the BCS system, OSU would not have even played in a title game. This begs the question, how many false champions were crowned under the previous system? Hellbird
It's a fair question and even before the BCS it was still a fair question when teams would be named National Champions while other teams who went undefeated were not named. This year with the playoffs have been the absolute best!
Jumper_Dad
You could speculate that every season there COULD have been a team that could have made an OSU type run. I honestly think that MOST years the BCS did get it right.

Jumper_Dad
TCU would argue that it happened this year as well.
swamprat
About 100 less than the system in place before it.
coldweatherfan
I thought the BCS formula matched up the 2 most deserving teams every time.
kypride
The answer is either 0 or all of them. The champion in the past is not always the team playing the best at the end. It was good + consistent + timing. When you shift the paradigm to a playoff your champion then becomes who is good + healthy + peaking. Totally different animal we have now. HoopsLady
How many times has a VA-TECH type loss in the beginning of the year have eliminated great teams from consideration? How many times has a Florida State type team with a great W/L record against marginal competition with marginal play received a bid to a title game? A lot on both accounts, which is why a playoff system is the best.
rjs4470
Who says Ohio State isn't a false champion. Two apparently very good teams, Baylor and TCU didn't get a chance. No matter what system, there will always be questions. Playoffs tend to reward the hot team, not necessarily the best team. There's always going to be potential for argument. No one can ever say OSU is without question the best team in the country. What we can say though is they are the most deserving NC due to the playoff system in a long long time. You will always have those who will always claim a team that was left out of the playoffs could have won it all. that will never change, even if you have 8 playoff teams and say the #8 seed wins it all then you will have those who will say the #9 team or 10 team that didn't get in were better than the #8 team. jlow
Easy to throw the phrase false champs out there when your team is left out. Every system has flaws. At the end of the day whether you are a mythical champ, a BCS champ, or a playoff champ, you are the perceived champ that year by the most folks and thats all that matters. I dont want to here about false champs, that is just sour grapes.
Cats3x
Oklahoma in 2000. Miami should have been in that game but was left out. The year Auburn didn't make it could definitely be argued.
