No offense to Austin (I respect his individual skill) intended but I don't think a player of the year can come from a team that's not winning. IMO, it's an important factor; if your team isn't successful it's hard to make a case that you have the region's best player.

Have not completed my tour of the 10th at this time, but I'd have to agree with this pick so far.

7th Region: Jalen Perry, with Dwayne Sutton right at his heels

6th Region: I'll go against the grain and say Dujante Weaver number 1 (even though he's got more to work with, he's still the catalyst and carrying the top team in the 6th), with Richard Gaines a close second.

 

In both regions, I think you could say 1a, and 1b to those kids.

Agree with Ball Coach but would put Gaines 1A in the 6th. Toss up in the 7th and I believe you have to add Raymond in the mix. That system will prevent high scoring numbers from any single player. If you take Raymond from Trinity they are just another good team, but not the powerhouse they appear to be.

Sutton had 40 and 14 in that loss to Henderson County in Lexington! He almost brought them back to get that win single handily. I think he had like 12 in the like 4:00. Maybe in less time than that. The kid is a monster.

In the 16th Region I would have to say it is between Ryne Callahan and Jordan Perry. IMO I would give the nod to Callahan.

 

I saw them play head to head in EKC tourney. Rowan won the game, but Perry is a better overall player than Callahan. Defensively and offensively without the ball. Has been averaging more ppg too I believe. Plus, Perry is almost always double teamed.

Well I did say any of those 3 but I will respectfully disagree with you on this. This is not a question of team success it's a question of best player no matter the team. Team success is a totally different thread. And while the Polar Bears are lacking in the W column at this point in the season it's not from a lack of effort team wide. With Crawford leading the way. 26 ppg and 9.5 rpg it's hard not to have him in the conversation.

 

While this is a high school basketball thread if memory serves me correctly A-Rod won the AL MVP with the Texas Rangers when that season they were close to if not in last place in their division that season. I know that is like comparing apples and oranges but I think you know what I mean with that statement.

 

Furthermore I would say the same for Henry or King of they played for a less than stellar team. When you want to talk about best player IMO you can't use team success or lack there of as a factor. Their numbers alone is what you compare.

 

If the Augusta Panthers had went 5-20 last year and lost in the first round of the district I still would have said Brent Bach was the best player in the region based on his numbers alone. :thumb:

16th Region: Morgan County's Jordan Perry. 26.4 PPG, and 47% from the field. Been saying it all year, hands down top player in the 16th, and should be receiving more attention state wide. He gets double and triple teamed every night out and still puts up amazing #'s.
