January 10, 201511 yr Really entertaining game to watch. Incredible shot by Paige to win it. Wayne just hasn't lived up to the hype (I believe he was voted Chicago player of the year over Davis). He's a solid ball player, just not the star many thought he would be. It seems like kids are in love with the thought of a game winning three. A head fake, couple dribbles and a shot 6 or 8 foot closer in would have been a much better choice for Wayne on that last play.
January 10, 201511 yr I'm bummed UL lost but I enjoyed the last 26 seconds because there were no time-outs (don't know if each team was out of them). Just solid action from one end to the other. Usually, there would have been about 4 of them called in that situation.
January 10, 201511 yr Deuce has been way ahead of the curve on Blackshear. Dude always fails in the big moment. Not for one second did I think either of those was going in. Rozier's follow had me out of my seat for a second though. No two ways about it, that's a terrible meltdown. Cards were up 63-50 at one point in the second half. Not true. Blackshear makes huge shots against directional schools. Major-league gag job. Against a team that's really not all that good. Real disappointing.
January 11, 201511 yr Wow! Tone is a lot more negative than I expected. Thought they played much better in this game than at Wake and the last several games I have seen them. Got better in this loss than in many wins. 1st half lack of effort on the defensive boards was embarrassing. That said, they are obviously coach-able because they improved greatly in the 2nd half. Jones reversed course and was tough in the 1st half and struggled a bit in the 2nd half. Trez was a non-factor. Effort didn't seem to be there. Needs to demand the ball more to create a threat and open things up for Jones & Rozier. Onuaku contributed offensively for the 1st time. Mathiang has a defensive presence, but nothing on the other end. That could be an important development. Someone needs to step up in the 5 role. Could be 2 players. Kinda liked the few minutes where Mahmoud played the 4 whith Onuaku at the 5 when Blackshear was out. Mahmoud has the quickness to play the wing in the 2/3 matchup and is a challenge to shoot over. Appeared to handle the ball a bit as well. Might be interesting to see what develpps there. Duke will be a huge challenge but it is at Yum. Think they have a chance to get much better and I didn't always see that this year.
January 11, 201511 yr I'm finally settled down after this one. First, you can't give up a 13 point lead to a ranked team on the road in league play. You just can't do it. There was a point in the 2nd Half where it felt like Louisville was on the verge of blowing UNC out and coasting to a victory. They got comfortable, shots weren't falling, and UNC picked it up on defense to complete the come back. A few more notes: - Terry was awesome. He's our best player, IMO. After Bustshear missed two gimme's, Terry was almost able to bail him out with that last second shot. His pull up jumper is so smooth. - Bench was non-existent today, literally. Zero bench points. Unacceptable. - Harrell was a no-show. He has to be better. - Rick talked about having to keep UNC off the offensive glass, and they didn't do it. - I'm the biggest Chris Jones critic there is (Getslow may give me a run for my money), but he has been big the last three games. I'm still skeptical, but it's pretty evident that Louisville is going to need him to continue being successful on such a terrible offensive team. - Our front court has to be more productive. Nanu had a pretty decent game, but we need more. There's nothing left for me to say about Wayne Blackshear. I've been saying the same thing for three years, and he continues to prove me right. He plays great in games that mean nothing (exhibitions, early season games against nobodies, etc), but he is a B.U.S.T. when it comes to Prime time. I can't stand him. He's now atop my all time least favorite Cardinals list. Randy could have hit AT LEAST one of those two WIDE OPEN looks he had at the end of the game in his snow suit for crying out loud! He'll never get looks that good for potential game winners again, and he blew it, as he always does.

January 11, 201511 yr I missed all but the last minute of the game due to the uk game lasting so long. In the prediction thread I mentioned that I would be pulling for UL to win, but to do so they would have to hit the open looks they get. I'm not sure how the rest of the game went, but the little I saw, they weren't hitting them. All in all, losing a close game to an underrated UNC team in Chapel Hill isn't as bad as some of these posts make it seem. I don't see anyone running the table in the ACC this year, I would expect everyone to have at least two losses entering the conference tourney. I don't care what the talking heads say, the ACC is the toughest conference this year.
