Rex Ryan Out in New York

Featured Replies

I think he will end up with the Bears either as DC or HC

I actually think Rex had a bad hand dealt to him when he got the job.

His tenure as HC consisted of having to start 2 rookie QB's.

He had Sanchez and then Gino Smith. Not too many coaches can succeed when your job depends on rookie QB's.

When folks judge Rex, they fail to mention this. His players always love playing for him. He would do well with a veteran OC and QB. I hope he gets another chance to be a head guy. He has already said he will not be a DC next season, either a head coach or he'll join the media for a year (which could be fun).

He also had his hands tied with an idiot GM.

Rex actually did a pretty good job with what he had to deal with. 2 AFCCG's in his resume is more than a lot of coaches can claim.

If Mvin had 2 AFCCG's under his belt he would be regarded as the best coach Cincy has ever had.

If the GM picked the players I agree with you.

The GM is also the one who let Reevis go and did t go after Croamartie either when he was there.

The GM decimated that defense.

Whoever was drafting at least got it right on the D-line. They have a couple of studs there.

I like Rex, hope he gets another job soon.

Wilkersons and beast

I would not want Rex Ryan as the head coach of my team.

I think he is very entertaining (like his father Buddy), I think he is a players coach (like his father Buddy), and I think his poor teams over-perform and his talented teams under-perform (like his father Buddy).

I see Rex as an effective defensive coordinator, but I can't see his larger than life personality and ego allowing himself to be a mere coordinator. I also think he might be disruptive as an assistant coach (like his father Buddy).

Best coach on the market right now.

He's having conversations with SF and Atlanta.

I would take Rex in a New York minute to be the HC of the Bengals. Marvin is the football version of Dusty Baker, this team has gone as far as it can under him, he's simply not good enough to advance them. Rex never threw anyone under the bus in New York, despite working for a GM that was the worst on the planet. He is a little controversial, but is that any worse than condescending jack wagon Lewis at the mic? He is arrogance personified, and has done nothing to earn it. Bill Upchuck has earned that right, Marvin not so much. Marvin cannot master the simple task of clock management, time for a change.

I like Rex and think he should be a head coach again one day with a team that has credible ownership and a credible front office.

I do really like this post though. :lol2:

He could win a Super Bowl at SF.

I am really surprised at how many on here are in love with Rex Ryan. I am with RU here. Rex can be my DC but NO WAY I want him to be my head coach. Rex says funny things and the media loves him so he gets a pass on a lot of things. He has not been to the playoffs the past 4 years and some people on here want him here to replace a guy who HAS been to the playoffs the last 4 years??? If SF replaces Harbaugh with Ryan, how do you sell that as a good thing to your fan base? Harbaugh took over a mess and routinely had the 49ers deep in the playoffs and Rex has not been to the playoffs the last 4 years. His ground and pound philosophy does not work in the NFL any more. I also could not care less if his players "love" playing for him. It's all about whether you win or not in the NFL...
