I agree but don't really want Ricky P. / U.L. to get to the final four. Not bc I am scared of U.K. playing them again. I just don't really like them at all.

Just got finished watching the game & his play stuck out to me more than anything. He is terrible. If he was as good as he thought he was...

Harrell is good but could be one helluva lot better if he would drop the cheap shot act .....Jones, I can best describe as a wannabe that never will be. Something that I find interesting is that you hear most analyst talk about controlling tempo etc. UK seems content to play whatever style you want to play. The will play physical/ugly (Louisville, Texas), fast (UNC, UCLA, Kansas) or methodical (Providence) and beat you at your style. I think Cal gets a charge out of it.

why in the world didn't we call a timeout late in the game when KAT was trapped in the corner. We had three left. That one is on Cal.

 

That one is on Townes, not Cal. Freaking Freshman in High School know to call time out in that situation. That was a severe brain fart on Townes part, now Cal's.

From what I could tell, Cal wanted Towns to call timeout, when he didn't, Cal attempted to do it for him, but it was too late. During the stop of play you could read Cals lips telling Towns to call timeout.

 

Imo, it was just another learning experience. Towns should have called timeout himself. He didn't, so Cal attempted to but it was to late for the refs to recognise it.

 

Imo, there is no reason to blame Cal for that. What I gather from it is he was giving a freshman the opportunity to do it himself. He didnt, so Cal used that as a learning experience for Towns. Which is just another reason why he is the best in the biz. However, don't think that Cal wouldn't have called timeout himself if it was an important game.

I was thinking Dick Vitale said that, not Rick. Or did both say it. Either way, it is funny as can be.

 

Can't blame Rick for saying it if you are correct, Tubby was one of his assistants and even when one of your former assistants is coaching a rival, you still speak well of that former assistant.

They do look alike. It happened earlier in the year with Towns I believe. Cal was yelling about Willie, however it was Towns that he meant to be yelling at. Towns owned it and didn't say a word. After the game, Cal realised he was wrong and appologised, that just goes to show how close this team is with each other.

I'm not a "tweeter" so I'm not sure if there is any substance to that or not...?

Cal was ripping into Andrew Harrison after taking him out and going into a timeout. Not sure if that is the one people are referring to, but he was ripping him for leaving the huddle. He dropped a few expletives about not leaving the huddle.

 

Overall, it was a very good win for UK.

 

In general, Chris Jones is not the type of point guard who is going to get you set up in the half court but will flourish in the open court when they are turning people over and getting into transition. His feigning of blows to the face is hilarious. He had another one where he feigned getting hit by H5 on a drive and literally grabbed his jaw and flung himself backwards.

 

Wayne Blackshear is the modern day Derrick Hord of UK. All kinds of hype and stars coming out of high school. He has not really materialized. He to me is the key of how far UL will go this year.

 

The Ville never got into one of their patented runs that they usually have during a game. Credit UK defense and rebounding.

 

Devin Booker is a better defender than I would have ever imagined coming out of high school. Trey Lyles is skilled and smooth and will mix it up too on the glass.

 

All in all just another step of continuing to improve.
