I'm a UK fan, but I hope 20 teams go undefeated every year.. Is that better

Kentucky has been to two of the last three title games. Granted they only won one of the two, but who has done better than that in the past 10 years? IF Kentucky makes it this year, that's three title games in 4 years. Teams hang banners for stuff like that.

I guess that should answer theguru's question then. Obviously Kentucky isnt bad for basketball, since others have accomplished the same in recent years.

It's not possible. There just isn't enough talent for more than one or two other schools to do what he's doing. That's why it works.

 

Disagree,there is. Look at Wichita St last year. Don't think they had any McDonalds All Americans. I believe there is lots of talent out there. The thing is getting the right kids. Coachable, strong work ethic, and good character to mention a few. Coaches have to do their home work on getting the right kids. There are lots of talent out there, that do not make the McDonald All American teams. Look at WCS. Also the coach has alot to do with it, not the lack of talent available.

They're bad in the sense of, for instance, "UK has some "bad" dudes on the Blue Platoon."

Disclaimer, even though most know it already, I'm 100% NOT a UL fan. I actually prefer UK to them and IU....by a wide margin. Just so no one thinks I took the UL shot as one directed at me. Not the case.

 

Sorry but I was raised as only a UK fan.. And it wasn't directed at you.. I just hate all that is UofL.. Raised that way too If you wanna follow and like both teams that in no way bothers me.. Could care less.. But I do hope that Duke also goes undefeated until the NCAAs as with UK.. Will make for a good game as they're the 3rd worst team in my eyes as far as liking.. Maybe 4th as Indiana is almost up there with UofL.. We'll take care of UofL Sat in that department.. Go Big Blue!!

Painting with a broad brush, I find many in the UK fan-base to be tough to take on average years, and if this first month+ of the season is any indication, this winter will be even more difficult to cope with (when it comes to those folks).

 

When a team is 1:1 to win the National Title, before Christmas, it can't in any way be construed as "good for the sport".

 

UK is 10-11 to win the title, slightly better than 1:1.

B) Never did I make that claim, nor were they the first to take one and dones. I heard more UK fans complain about that trend under Cal than non-UK fans. Regardless, that trend certainly doesn't ruin college hoops in any way. An infusion of talent, even if only for a season, is never a bad thing.

Once you add in the sensitivity of (some) UK fans you can't help but see how UK being good is great for college basketball. :lol2:

There's plenty of sensitivity from all sides to go around.

There's no way it's bad for college basketball. After all, the complaint du jour lately is the total lack of dominant teams in college basketball. We've finally got a couple to watch again, adding Duke into that category.

 

The change in philosophies roughly 20 years ago that saw the rise of high schoolers jumping straight to the pros was what began a chain reaction that was bad for college basketball. Gone for the most part are the days where you saw a player like Tim Duncan go all the way through his collegiate career. That is what caused the product of college basketball to diminish, and quite frankly it did the same to the NBA.

Here's a question, when UK was inaccurately perceived to be dominate last year and much to the delight of many, preceded to fall on their face. Was it good for college basketball? I'm sure most of those that answer yes to Guru's question would answer yes to my questions.
