December 19, 201411 yr The Thing and Scarface come to mind. Probably The Fly as well. Had no idea Scarface was a remake. Wow. Has to be a somewhat loosely based remake, since the Pacino version dealt with the Cuban mass exodus to South Florida when Castro opened the gates and also included the cocaine trade. Totally agree on The Fly.

December 19, 201411 yr Wahlberg's new movie, "The Gambler," is a remake. Didn't know it, and I haven't seen the original. I bet the remake is better though. Also, I think Ocean's 11 is a remake. I can't imagine the original was better. 11 was pretty darn good. 12 and 13, not so much.

I watch either version whenever they are on. Henry Fonda and Jack Lemon are equally good in the lead role.

December 19, 201411 yr ...... It has come to my attention that "The Birdcage" is actually a remake (of sorts) of "La Cage Aux Folles", and if that is the case and was the intention, than "The Birdcage" should top this list.
December 19, 201411 yr Is Manchurian Candidate with Denzel Washington better than the original? I enjoyed the newer one, but never saw the first.
