Glad to know how cheap and insignificant these titles Mayfield is winning are.

Non one said they were cheap. But when there are a lot less teams in a class it makes it is a lot easier.

This got me thinking (....I know, shocker). How many teams in KY total are there in 1A, 2A and 3A respectively? I would think that MF and BW would be near the top of any one of these 3 divisions.

I don't like to play the "if this team was in such and such class they would have won", as no one knows for sure. A few years ago when Beechwood beat Cov Holy Cross and put up 60+ points on them, HC went on to win the AA title, many people said if Beechwood was AA that they would have won the AA title. We simply don't know that for sure. But Beechwood was very strong in the 90's. But looking at the 95 game, it was very close. THIS is the only game where I think the better team didn't win. BUT MF won and that is all that counts.

Back in the 90's you had a very strong class A. In NKY you had a strong NCC team fall from AA, and a strong Lloyd team fall from AAA? Into class A. Pikeville was very strong, as well as Bardstown, Harrisburg, And Murray and Russellvile always seemed strong. Then Danville dropped to A as well. This was not a watered down period in A.

I've never thought the 95 Beechwood bunch was better than Mayfield. As for who the better team was Friday night, football is about making plays and scoring points and coaching so since Mayfield won 35-24 they were the better team.

How have you always had the better team? The 95 team wasn't the better team. This streak shouldn't be at 7-0. I know at least 5 times if you guys wouldn't have been knocked out the week before Beechwood would have beat you the following week. Yes you are 7-0 against them I give you that but to say they were always the better team is crazy. They didn't dominate 1A like they thought they would have.

Is this a serious post, or just pot stirring going on?

A pot that has the chance of being stirred for the next 4 years when BW has a chance of joining MF in 2A.

Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla Mayfield is a great team don't get me wrong but like I said from talking to people and reading on here I think Beechwood was the better team. Mayfield made the plays and Beeechwood didn't. It's just that simple.

You weren't there!!! How can you be giving an opinion on this game if you didn't see it?? Mayfield was the better team. Period.

Just opened this thread for the 1st time, certainly some entertaining reading to say the least...........carry on boys and girls.

I actually stated Friday night that I thought the Better Team didn't win, but I agree with what you are saying. I still believe that BW had more talent, but the "team" was NOT better on that night.

This thread was supposed to be therapy and its clear we need it. It would appear that most fans are still in the denial phase and have a long way to go to complete their recovery.

This thread has strayed significantly from the classic BW / MF good natured banter that we have been used to over the years. Reel it in boys, this is immature garbage. It's almost like the kid that got knocked down by the bully 7 times in a row and still calls out the bully because he knows the bully will not be back in his yard for a long time. And I would venture to guess that some of the good MF folks like Toothpick and Snot do not appreciate some of the crap being hurled back over the fence by some MF posters.

Toothpick and Snot don't own the patent on Mayfield threads. Heck...truth be told Toothpick doubted on Mayfield all year...

Come on! TB and Mr. Snot are legends on BGP, when they speak people listen.

VOR...I will attempt to steer this back for you...Beechwood will have a lot of off season work to do to make it back to this point next year in my opinion. Losing a lot of Seniors and experience. I am not so worried about skill positions..I think they will be fine. The Oline and Dline will be the thing to watch....with Combs and Overstreet the only 2 starters returning. They have some capable kids moving up in Hermes, Rowe, Benson...but some of they younger ones will have to step up....Campbell, Talley..etc. Soward, Burns, Justice and Everett will have to contribute a ton. I know Im missing some...Fieger, Slusher, Stringer all return. Losing Studer will hurt as well as McKown, Etler, The Bright bros, Erdman, and Stokes.

It will take some time to get things worked out for this current group of Juniors...The underclassmen are going to have to step up big time. Should be a big off season in the weight room. I look forward to a new beginning in the spring.

If everyone comes back, Beechwood will be very good next year. Like you said, skill players are never a problem at Beechwood. There are always very good skill players. The line is what decides how good Beechwood is each year. With Combs and Overstreet back, the line will be good. You can build a very good line around those two. So player wise, Beechwood will be right at the top of 1A where they always are.

I think philosophy, strategy, playbook changes, etc. are where evaluation needs to happen. I have never liked our pass game plays. It has improved and it needs to improve more. That is my big area of focus - how does Beechwood get better throwing the ball?
