Wait what? I'm sorry... this is from 7 yrs ago?

Good point. That's 4 state titles ago for Beechwood.

That was a really good Beechwood team.  Hazard had a fine team in the finals but you could tell Mayfield wasn't at their best in that game.

I agree Hazard was good but one of the best Mountain teams I ever saw was the 1998 Middlesboro Yellow Jackets. They beat 2 very good undefeated teams back to back in Beechwood and Mayfield. They ended Beechwood’s steak of 7 straight title appearances. Floyd Branham their MLB was a beast! I have never seen one player dominate like he did! He basically shut down an offense himself!

I agree the 1998 Middlesboro team was one of the best 1A teams of all time.

Jonathon Jackson was hurt and the best lineman broke his leg the Beechwood game and Labront Scott was hurt. The Beechwood game was costly.

That’s funny since I’m almost positive Beechwood had more state titles than Mayfield while they were in Class A.

I heard Beechwood had a lot of injuries from that game as well. So Hazard had the edge over both teams.

I know you like to stir the pot which is all in good fun because I do as well but you know that streak has to end sooner or later.

Middlesbrough stacked the box against Mayfield. Mayfield adjusted the second half but it was too late. Middlesboro had the best high school kicker I ever saw.
